[Success] ASUS Prime Z370-A+i9-9900k Pro Audio Build

UPD: Everything works perfectly on latest OpenCore, used quirk values from OC Vanilla Guide. Originally enabled more than probably needed from OpenCore docs in AptioMemoryFix migration section. Hi everyone! Has anyone using OpenCore on this board upgraded to 0.5.4 or 0.5.5? I'm experimenting...

    LG UltraFine 5K Build

I wonder why it made it work. It changes board-id to board-ix to fix black screen (AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy check for Apple supported hardware). Maybe by default vit9696,pikera value is used when there is an external GPU and 5K works only when there is only Piker's patch used.

    LG UltraFine 5K Build

I'm on Catalina with an older LG 5K and GC-Alpine Ridge (2 DP and Thunderbolt header) - no issues at all, webcam/speaker/microphone/usb working. Full 5k without WhateverGreen and using a board-id patch. iMac 18,3 But have to enable WhateverGreen for macOS updates or recovery mode

[Success] ASUS Prime Z370-A+i9-9900k Pro Audio Build

Thanks a lot! That makes a lot of sense, I think I'll completely switch to OC once I finish the documentation. I actually reverted back to Prime because it has a Thunderbolt header, otherwise my LG 5K won't work properly. Your OC EFI will save me a lot of time!

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Sorry, can't say for sure. I never even got to fixing sleep on Designare, as it's a full development daily driver which stays on at work hours. But it actually makes sense to get it working to compensate for boot times!

[Success] ASUS Prime Z370-A+i9-9900k Pro Audio Build

Hi @NorthAmTransAm, thanks a lot for the guide! Was wondering if you switched completely to OpenCore and your experience, I'm rebuilding the system with identical specs as you and might as well switch to OpenCore and use your config. Also, only because of this guide I found out about an iMac...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

    - ASUS PRIME Z370-A - Yes - Yes, more on this below - Yes, yes, yes and yes! - I had initially set Orinoco framebuffer with no Inject Intel (with headless iGPU setup) as several guides were suggesting it, but after deleting it the default auto-selected framebuffer gets me much more fluid UI...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi everyone, a quick update to anyone following my quest for full 5K resolution on LG Ultrafine 5K. I went ahead and rebuilt the system on a mobo with a Thunderbolt header for GC-Alpine Ridge. Initially I still had very weird 4k to 5k scaling until I removed WhateverGreen. I already notice an...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

That's quite upsetting, at this point I think I'll rebuild the system on another mobo with a Thunderbolt header (no header on Designare Z390). It now seems that Thunderbolt header is required for macOS to recognise the display and understand how to handle it. Thanks!

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I finally got a GC-Alpine Ridge rev 2 card to get 5K working. It was around 40% cheaper than the newer Titan Ridge based cards on Amazon in case anyone is thinking of buying it. It can be a great deal if only video is required (no microphone, speakers, camera is working of course). Here is my...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Just to be sure, does it actually mean we can add a Thunderbolt Alpine Ridge card like GC-Alpine Ridge to Designare Z390 without using the Thunderbolt header to connect the Ultrafine 5K using two DisplayPort inputs? Of course only for image, no brightness control, usb and so on I actually saw...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

That's actually what I was going to find out right now. Is there no point in trying to get this to work? That's an interesting thought, will also try this. Thank you!

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

That's for headless iGPU, I am now pretty sure there's no way to get 5K on old LG 5K connecting dGPU -> Designare -> Monitor. I'll switch back to fully enabling iGPU - maybe you'll find something useful!

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

My SwitchResX output for the old LG 5K: 4096x2304, scale to 5120x2880 with pixel clock 593,82 MHz Attaching the AGDCDiagnose output. Also, before going with headless iGPU I saw two monitors connected which I thought was a bug, one from iGPU and one from dGPU. Could this mean that it was...
