    Graphics Test: Bruce X

I just did a clean install of Catalina on my system (was using Mojave for the last year). Here are my results (which are twice as fast as they were on Mojave). Result: 8 Seconds CPU: i7-8700k stock OS Version: Catalina 10.15.4 FCPX Version: 10.4.8 Smbios: Imac 19.1 Graphics Card: MSI Vega 56...

Solved > Boot from Install Catalina stuck at 50%

It was the WiFi/Bluetooth card that was installed. I added the Broadcom kexts to the USB installer EFI and it was able to finish booting. Thank you

Solved > Boot from Install Catalina stuck at 50%

Hi all, I'm trying to do a clean install of Catalina but it keeps getting stuck at 50% after I select "Boot from Install Catalina". Attached are some images of what I got after using verbose mode. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong? I'm on Gigabyte z370n-wifi with an i7-8700k. Could it...

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

Do you have the USB injection fix (high sierra version) installed on the USB stick drive itself? I had a problem similar to this where I couldn't get to the installer because my build couldn't recognize the USB Drive properly under MacOS because the USB ports weren't properly configured. I know...

    RX580 and FCPX, rendering issue

That speed is way off. Should be in the 16 - 20 seconds range. Not sure what is wrong with your setup but it might not be using the iGPU or GPU (probably just all CPU).

But will the system utilize the i7-8700K properly with iMac 14,2? I was using that SysDef before but switched to 18,3 since that was closer to my build specs. I can confirm as well that using displayport cables with 18,3 requires whatevergreen. On 14,2 it doesn't need it.

    RX580 and FCPX, rendering issue

I believe that is how its supposed to be when you enable Quicksync with the intel iGPU. The system uses that when you hit export. It should use the RX580 for the editing part. Please double check that and if that is the case then it is normal. Also, make sure your monitor cables are connected to...

    RX580 and FCPX, rendering issue

Its a Clover boot argument. May not be necessary for many systems but it was the only thing that got quicksync finally working on mine (in addition to the other steps).

    RX580 and FCPX, rendering issue

You have to type it in manually in the ig-platform-id box the Graphics section of Clover. Without that the igpu is not correctly recognized. This is definitely the most important (and necessary) step. I have a dual monitor setup with displayport cables and the only way I could get the second...

    RX580 and FCPX, rendering issue

I had to enable the integrated GPU and quicksync in order to get h.264 export in FCPX. Not sure if it was because of the iMac 18,3 SMBIOS or because of my motherboard but I also had to add an extra setting in clover in order for quicksync to kick in. Here is what may help you. Make sure you...

    [SOLVED] Need to enable QuickSync/Export on i8700K + RX 580 + FCPX

Quicksync has never helped with my BruceX time (on my previous system either), but it makes a huge difference on export times for my regular projects (the longer the project, the more time is saves). Right now, quicksync has cut my h.264 export time in half on a 3 minute video project I've been...

    [SOLVED] Need to enable QuickSync/Export on i8700K + RX 580 + FCPX

Ok, I installed Intel Power Gadget app but the only green line I see is in the "Frequency" section and it only slightly moves up to like 0.10 - 0.23ghz. Is that what you are talking about or should I be looking somewhere else? BruceX ProRes 422 = 15 seconds BruceX H.264 = 18 - 19 seconds (ran...

    [SOLVED] Need to enable QuickSync/Export on i8700K + RX 580 + FCPX

Thanks. I had to disable CSM in BIOS and also click on "-disablegfxfirmware" in the Boot -> Arguments section of Clover Configurator in order to finally get quicksync enabled. So far so good. Still using latest Lilu and Whatevergreen in order to get dual monitor with dp cable to work after boot...
