I'm using this card: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JEVLEFQ/?tag=tonymacx86-21
I'm using the internal header via a USB3->2 cable for the Fenvi BT, and plugging all of my USB 2 devices into the two external ports.
Hmmm - it's the same driver, but to my untrained eye it doesn't look like it's coming up as an RHUB or XHC device:
You can see the (empty) onboard USB ports below.

Another update - the Inateck card is working fine, and doesn't crash when the onboard USB ports crash (currently posting this just after all of the onboard USB ports have stopped working). So I'm currently running...
The Inateck card seems to be more stable than the motherboard - I had a crash today (before trying the USB reset mentioned) and the onboard ports stopped working, so I plugged everything into the Inateck card and everything worked, whereas previously my only option was to screen-share and...
CalDigit TB3 - seems to be working well, but my freezes are so variable in timing it's a little tricky to tell until I've used the computer for a long time
Sadly it didn't work - seems something on my system doesn't like any USB 2 devices plugged in to any of the motherboard ports. Going to carry on rocking with a TB3 dock, I think.
And that's a USB 2 hub, isn't it? I'm going to try dangling all of my USB 2 bits off HS09/10 (the two USB 2 ports on the Designare) and the Inateck card - see if that's stable....
Yes, I've tried running everything from the two USB 2 ports - still had freezes... Was working all day yesterday with the CalDigit TB3 dock. Need to put more hours in, but if the problem is with macOS and USB 2, then by translating everything to USB 3/using the Inateck for internal BT hopefully...
Would you mind sharing a detailed breakdown of your USB devices including any hubs, and which port they're plugged in to, please? As we can't find a common denominator to the freezes (like the iLok) perhaps we can try and find and test a stable physical configuration
I'm pretty certain I tried that (albeit with a USB 3.0 hub) as one of my troubleshooting steps, and it had no effect on stability.
The Intel Wifi/BT module is disabled by the SSDT files in the build guide.

Unfortunately I don't think it's that straightforward. The Inateck card was running at USB 2 speeds with only a USB 3.0 SSD plugged in - the same drive worked at full speed with the Sedna card. Yes, both PCIe cards are hub...

So... Good news and bad news. The bad news is that I'm still experiencing USB freezes (damn it). The good news is that - so far - the PCIe cards are unaffected by the freezes, which I think points to the motherboard...
