    Success - OpenCore - Dell XPS 8700 - i7 4770, 3.40Ghz, 32GB ram (previously Clover)

Thanks for posting updates on this thread - I happened to get one of these old machines from family upgrading their computers, and it's great to know that there is path to success for it. Edit: it would actually be awesome if you could post your config.plist (without smbios info etc.) and...

So what ended up working to boot properly with CSM support enabled was Setting XHCI Handoff → Enabled. I thought for sure I had done this, but triple-checking revealed I had not. I have no idea why (is it obvious from the logs?), but worth leaving here in case others search for it in the future...

Thank you for the advice, I'll try that!

That's correct. All the BIOS parameters are also set according to your instructions in the mini-guides.

Sorry about that! I am on macOS 11.2, OpenCore 6.6.0, BIOS firmware F9i (also occurs on F9g). What happens at boot without verbose mode enabled is that it hangs on the Apple logo. Turning on verbose mode shows me the output I provided, but I'm not getting anywhere trying to decipher it through...

@CaseySJ Do you know of any issues with enabling CSM support? I cannot boot with it on, but I think it will help me with my display issues (sometimes one screen will stay off when the displays sleep - right now the computer itself is set to never go to sleep, but the issue is the same when that...

Are there any benefits to using F9i over F9g? In principle I would guess there must be improvements, but it sure is nice not having to worry about CFG-Lock on F9g. Likewise, should F9j be used if we don't need USB 3.X on thunderbolt?

Looks good! Very intuitive. Love that it doesn't close the window down like EFI Agent does, and I immediately figured out that double clicking on the name will open it in Finder. I get the 'spinning ball of death' for a few seconds when first clicking on the icon. Besides that, making it more...

@CaseySJ, I am hoping you might have some ideas on the following issue: whenever I sleep my displays (via Amphetamine or manually through the control+shift+eject shortcut), only one will successfully wake, requiring a power cycle on the other one to be recognized. These are two LG 5k2k monitors...

Yep, I learned the hard way that that particular kext (in clover or opencore, I think) messed with my magic keyboard input, and the reason was that I would accidentally enable it with ProperTree. It might be a good idea to put a small disclaimer about ProperTree or just disabled (but present)...

I am too - I wasn't sure if it was Big Sur or if I was just closer to the machine and noticing it more (I have been on the betas and never noticed increased fan noise). It seems to be on full blast all the time now.

@CaseySJ I deleted the bluetooth plist file ,and that solved my bluetooth issue... but it also broke the wifi. Switching the fenvi away and back to the 1x slot, deleting the airport/networking/bluetooth plists, and resetting NVRAM on first boot set things back to normal. Worth putting this on...

@CaseySJ So both issues I mentioned have been issues since day one as far as I can tell. The system freeze issue occurs any time I play a 4k video (all mkv files, so no QuickTime), though that isn't too often. IGPU is enabled, and my Platform ID is set to 0x3E980003. I happen to have another...

Reposting because I think it just got buried: @CaseySJ I've been experiencing some really strange system freezes that come with crazy harsh sounds (over DisplayPort, through the monitor), and the only way to get out of it is to cut power. This only happens when playing 4k video (VLC or IINA)...

This only happens when playing 4k video (VLC or IINA), minutes/seconds in. Any ideas what this could be...
