Yep,
Just tried 0.8.1 with my Monterey install. Worked grand. Only thing I seem to be getting is the dialog box at boot which says your Mac did not shut down properly. Not sure why that is, but it's not that much of an issue. Thanks for your investigative work QuantumDog!
Wow!
That's really good to hear....I guess that's my evening decided then...!
I'll feedback when I've tried it.
What I really want to do is update my Big Sur install to Monterey...I wonder will 0.8.1 still work then. It looks like 0.8.1 has a problem with big Sur.
Btw, I know Pastry chef...
Despite not wishing you to have this trouble, I am somewhat relieved that the issue I am having is repeatable with another user. My issue sounds exactly like yours, and how you describe the boot process failing "right before the final shift into the progress bar" is exactly my experience. (also...
Thanks. I will try an install of Monterey on the spare disk using 0.7.9.
One query regarding SerialInit.
I downloaded the sample.plist files for 0.7.9 and 0.8.0 from the github page. The serialinit sections look very different.
In 0.7.9, it's like this:
And in 0.8.0, serialinit is in this...
I'm running Big Sur 11.6.
The "OCS: No schema for SerialInit at 5 index, context <Debug>!" error is the first line that appears whenever I boot using the OC 0.8.0 USB stick (above the Gigabyte splash screen), well before I choose the Big Sur installation...it's effectively immediately after I...
Thanks Pastrychef,
I deleted this line and saved the config file as you suggested. It did remove the line in the Gigabyte loading screen, but Big Sur still crashed on boot, at the same point as before (that is, before Apple logo and progress bar change from the higher res version to lower res...
Thanks,
I formatted a new USB drive and pasted your EFI folder (as it was with no changes and not opening the config file with anything) to the EFI partition on the drive. Booted from it after pressing F12 and the same OCS: No schema for SerialInit at 5 index, context <Debug>! error appeared at...
Thanks UtterDisbelief,
I am getting the error that the config file is not the same version as the Opencore configurator. I downloaded a fresh version of the latest OC 0.8.0 from page 1 of this thread, changed the serials etc and tried again. Still got the same boot crash and OCS error on...
Thanks.
I changed securebootmodel to Default, but still crashing. Attached are two screenshots of the boot, plus the config.plist file. Still getting the "OCS: No schema for SerialInit at 5 index, context <Debug>!" error on the Gigabite screen too.
All I have changed in the EFI folder is...
I managed to get verbose mode on when loading from OC 0.8.0.
This is what was on the screen when it wouldn't go any farther...
BTW, I tried 0.7.9 and despite a few errors on the Gigabite splash screen, it booted into Big Sur fine.
Thanks. How do I do that? I tried holding down CMD-V when I selected Big Sur on OC boot screen but it didn't work....maybe I did it too late?
Also, this appears on Gigabyte screen...
OCS: No schema for SerialInit at 5 index, context <Debug>!
