Yeah, it's good news. I named my last build "omega" because I thought this was going to be it. But, @CaseySJ has done God's work here getting this going on Z690 and documenting it all, which is something I never expected. With the new Mac Pros we'll probably get at least another generation of...
That makes sense. I can see how anyone would probably #ifdef out that code if there were no underlying support. There's a story in MR today that new Intel Mac Pros are coming, but likely those wouldn't have big.LITTLE architecture so maybe we'll never see the code in the x86-64 code base.
And...
There used to be a Micro Center in Santa Clara near Great America parkway, like 10 years ago, I think. So I guess that ship has sailed? Although one of the yelp reviews says they claim they lost their lease vs. just exiting the market.
I mean, is this truly a given? I can imagine there might...
Dumb question about the latest ProvideCpuInfo quirk enabling all the P and E cores - does the latest version of Monterey then understand which cores are P and which are E and schedule accordingly? Or is it still randomly scheduling threads onto processors?
sad to see you go - your posts were really useful for me when setting up my x299 hack with mojave.
for anyone else following the thread - any words of wisdom about MacPro7,1 vs iMacPro1,1 for monterey? is either OK? i used iMacPro1,1 for Mojave on my x299 and for iCloud/find my mac it probably...
wondering if anyone has seen something like this:
asus x299 prime deluxe II
opencore 0.5.8
mojave 10.14.6 - all updates applied
USB kext under 15-port limit for all controllers
no port limit disable kext
USB mass storage is unreliable - if i move a lot of data to a USB-attached hard disk...
i have this weird problem with my x299 / mojave system... security update -005 just will not apply. the installer crashes with an 'invalid parameter' error. i've tried deleting it and re-downloading the update and the result is the same. it looks like no futher softare updates are happening...
thanks - in the end i bought a NZXT 510 as a temporary case and from reading about that case, you're supposed to pull in cool air from the front and exhaust it out the back/top. it just seemed bad to heat up the inside of the case on purpose but i actually installed the fans both ways and...
yeah i have a lot of hardware lab experience so this was pretty easy for me. but i can see how it would be difficult for most people. it did require taking the motherboard out of the case becase at least on my nzxt 510 the cutout behind the processor is too small and does not expose the whole...
i dumped out the rom with a raspberry pi 4 and an SOIC clip and then casey patched it and sent it back to me. i then flashed it with that new rom. he has detailed instructions in his z390 thread on how to do this.
i guess things kind of stalled out. i don't know if i should share maleorderbride's SSDT without asking him. i also don't know if it makes sense to use his SSDT without flashing the firmware, which is kind of involved. x299 is not CaseySJ's main emphasis so maybe he had other things to work on...
CaseySJ is going to release everything when it is ready. I am using opencore, so not sure if my EFI would be helpful to you. the key thing is that you need the SSDT that matches up with this motherboard (which was developed by another user) and most importantly you need to flash the thunderbolt...
well, we got it working - hotplug too. i have another firmware to test to see if it fixes my power problems.
the SSDT needs methods to catch the interrupts generated by the hotplug, and you need to use clover or opencore's ACPI renaming to move the built-in interrupt code out of the way. i...
thanks. i will dump them out again today. i have been considering downgrading the bios to 0802 but i wonder if that bios has the cfg lock bug and needs to be patched to fix that. do you remember?
given the problems i'm having with the titan ridge TB3 controller i have been thinking of downgrading bios on my asus prime deluxe II to 0802, which is the previous version, to see if anything improves.
does anyone know if the MSR lock is broken in 0802?
