I posted earlier (see #40) maybe you didn't notice. Why not start from Mojave instead of Big Sur using Rehabman's repo ? It supports your model Probook G5. Then you can start from there studying his SSDT and the kexts he use and upgrade to to Catalina or Big Sur. The installation in Rehabman's...
Just want to share my experience. I started when it was Yosemite. I don't quite understand all those ACPI, not to mention I can write my own SSDT. And I have trouble to understand Clover as well. But it really takes time and patience. Recently I move from Clover to OC and I read the OC guide...
I installed Big Sur twice. After the first install, the boot time is 4 minutes which I can't tolerate and I go back to Catalina. Doing more digging and the long wait time is due to my BT. My wifi/BT card is BCM94360HMB. I took out the BrcmPatchRAM3 and all went well without any long wait time on...
Just an update to myself. I follow some other advice that it is normal and let it stuck there for another 20 minutes. Eventually it moves forward and brings up the Big Sur installation screen. I didn't do the upgrade as people said the upgrade takes very long. I will do the upgrade some other time.
Build one from scratch for Big Sur without using the OC one for Catalina. But I hit the following and it hangs there forever
I have been searching if this is known. The closest I can get is on ****** that some Z97 Haswell motherboard will have this problem. Mine is also a Haswell cpu but not...
I am running Catalina on my HP 840 g1 and am moving from Clover to OpenCore. I can boot from OpenCore and is not hard and it just needs to be patient. Almost everything is working except the battery, some USB port reports it needs more power. Also got some CMOS error on reboot but applying the...
I will reply to myself. I follow https://github.com/Hologos/hackintosh-hp-elitebook-840-g3 and have upgraded to Catalina on my 840 G1. One problem I hit along the way is clover 2.4k and 2.5k structure difference but that is not hard to solve.
I have been following Rehabman post #1 since High Sierra and Mojave. I am preparing to upgrade to Catalina but don't see a similar thread like this. Try the UniBeast and it simply hangs on boot somewhere. I think I must update the kext somewhere (mine are from Mojave era). Trying to search this...
I should say "It is not exactly working 100%" instead of "It is exactly not working". Sorry for the wrong wording. Also the screenshot I took somehow is also blank.
I just bought a refurbished HP Elitebook 840 G1 with I5 4300U and HD 4400. I followed every step in the OP. All went well except the graphics. It is exactly not working. Youtube is fine. But running applications like Kodi gives me blank screen, VLC also blank screen but has audio. Even some...
I followed the link below to compile my DSDT.

For SMBIOS, I am using MacBook Air 5,2. I have the following kext installed directly to S/L/E
FakeSMC
FakePCIID
FakePCIID_Broadcom_WiFi (for my...
Sorry to jump into this forum after that many months. I didn't notice until now. I personally have a Dell e6410, and I have been using it since Yosemite as my primary machine. It comes with BCM94322 wifi card, and it works out of the box if you set the SMBIOS to MacBook Air 5,2. Over time I...
I do not know how to tell if I have Synaptics or not. But one thing I would like to point out it in my first post the screenshot (before I move to SSD) the trackpad can be recognized by VoodooPS2Mouse. But it no longer works after I clone the disk image to SSD. And now it is VoodooPS2Trackpad of...
Thanks for the link. I have attached the relevant information as required for problem determination in this thread. Still don't understand why replacing a hard drive will make the trackpad not working.
EDIT. I installed Dr Hunt's version and now the trackpad works. Attachment removed.
Thanks...
I am scratching my head and I don't know what the problem is.
I have a Dell e6410 running Sierra and the PS2Controller has been working fine until I bought a Crucial MX300 SSD. I use the Disk Utility to clone the OS partition onto the new SSD. The EFI stuff is also being rsync'ed onto the SSD...
