Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

    Nope, it's not, it's Nehalem.

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

Looks good! I'll probably give it a try myself as I still have all the Sandy Bridge stuff lying around here. It's just a pity that there are no standard ATX Q67 boards around, or at least ones with USB 3.0 built in. A third PCI slot would have been nice as well, but I guess you just can't have...

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

Not exactly. I managed to get a system up and running with only one Core Card and an ASUS P8B WS board, but then again, one card probably won't get you very far, so yes, unfortunately there is no working HD2 or higher hackintosh build available as of yet.

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

This thread is about Pro Tools HD as you can see in the thread title. There's no reason why your firewire interface shouldn't work as long as you're using a supported TI chip. It's really all about getting HD PCI-X cards to work with a Sandy Bridge Hackintosh system here...

Here you are! BIOS version is 0302.

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

Thanks, I was really keen on getting Pro Tools 9 HD to work on a Sandy Bridge Hackintosh system, but it seems that either Avid changed their drivers too much or PCI just isn't PCI anymore (despite all the talking of legacy PCI support). I'm trying to build a system around a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3L...

Oh, sorry, I didn't know that you were referring to the ASUS board. I will upload its DSDT later. Did you try disabling Hyper-Threading, Turbo etc.?

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

I already did upload it here: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=14949&p=154768#p154768 That's the unedited DSDT from the first BIOS version. I couldn't get it to upgrade to the last one, as it wouldn't boot from several USB sticks.

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

I know, 1156 is still an option, it's just really frustrating that it doesn't want to work with Sandy Bridge. I do have the retail version of Pro Tools 9 HD installed. This is a bundle license by the way which means you can use Pro Tools 9 and 8 at the same time, so no need to keep a backup.

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

Thanks for the tip! I just tried different settings, but unfortunately none of them solved the problem. They did change the length of the loop though, however the distortion was still there. I did edit my DSDT with help from john_neg down to an error list of 2 warnings which we both couldn't...

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

This is not special at all. Every legacy PCI board works with Windows and Pro Tools HD. The art is getting it to work with Mac OS.

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

UPDATE: I tried to edit the DSDT (thanks to john_neg for his help), but that didn't change anything, I still got DAE error -9162 and couldn't start Pro Tools HD. Then I switched the mainboard to an ASUS P8B-C/4L, and suddenly Pro Tools booted without errors! But, and that's a big BUT, playback...

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

The word is that I'm getting DAE errors when starting Pro Tools HD 9 under Mac OS on the Super Micro board, but not under Windows, so it seems to be a DSDT issue. Unfortunately noone could help me with those and I didn't have time to read all the literature so I'm kinda stuck. I'd still...

Supermicro DSDT (How to make Intel 6700PXH PCI-X Hub work?)

Re: Help with Supermicro DSDT I could need a little help as well. viewtopic.php?p=154768#p154768 What did you edit so far and how? I really don't know where to begin... Regards, JK
