[Solution] COM Serial Port on Gigabyte Z170X running 10.11.4

So the latest Gigabyte BIOSes don't let you disable this anymore. I would probably be fine with "Disable the serial port in Clover by setting IOST = 0" as I don't need PS2 mice or anything else that has been mentioned as being a side effect. Does anyone know how to actually do this? I don't...

<< Solved >> USB Audio Interface Artifacts and Dropouts

Newest Gigabyte BIOS boards (I had F10 and upgraded to F11 on Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master) do not allow you to disable "Super IO Serial" This thread here has more information about disabling it now. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/solution-com-serial-port-on-gigabyte-z170x-running-10-11-4.191172/

GTX770 UI Lag on High Sierra 10.13.2

I'm right there with you. I've got a Nvidia 670 and 770 that I've had for a long time through a couple of mobo+cpu+ram+storage upgrades for years. I have the 770 in a CoffeeLake build right now and the UI performance is terrible... Playing youtube videos? stutter, drop frames etc. Have an...

    Mysterious kernel panics

Z87X-UD3H arrived today. Started off pretty well. Didn't have to boot with any kernel flags for install. Had to boot maxmem=4096 to get on actual os and install with multibeast. However, after a while (normal booting), the computer froze on its own not doing anything. Disable sleep and...

    Mysterious kernel panics

I have ran quite a few tests and have achieved semi-random stability. Also, statistically significant, booting with -v flag seems to make it much better. But not perfect! I'm not sure if it is memory, the supposed haswell memory issue, or MLB issue.

    Mysterious kernel panics

Further investigation, I tried a different monitor (this one has been a little flickery recently and it was easy to try a different one). I've set RAM back to auto everything (1333MHz default timings) I've gotten multibeast installed, but it is still super unreliable. Freezes on login...

    Mysterious kernel panics

I've had kernel panics/freezes that started on my machine around 10.9.2 (thought they could be a coincidence). They seem to be getting worse. I've read some stuff about memory, frequency and timings. I've attempted to set them right, but still either get KP on boot, or freeze shortly...

Rocketfish USB3 and External Hard drive (ejecting randomly)

Ok, issue resolved (mostly...). I googled around and found some 'real mac' users having somewhat similar issues with my Seagate drives. Running a Seagate utility that keeps the drive from auto-sleeping, resolved the un-mounting randomly, but did NOT resolve the transfer speed issues. I went...

Rocketfish USB3 and External Hard drive (ejecting randomly)

Bump. I've been unable to resolve the issue. Does anyone have a PCIe USB3 card they can recommend (non built in USB3)?

Rocketfish USB3 and External Hard drive (ejecting randomly)

After some experimentation (and upgrading to 1.2.6->1.2.7). I can say there is probably some kind of SW issue at play here. Un-mounted drive to drive copy results in ~150MBps bandwidth over USB3. (internal SATA 3TB disk to USB3 4TB disk). I assume that is using /dev/rdiskx and something...

Rocketfish USB3 and External Hard drive (ejecting randomly)

Sorry, I didn't mention the logic board in this case is a P55m-UD2 with Rocketfish USB 3 card. I doubt Bios would help in this case. I used the oddly shapped USB3 cable that came with the HDD,s but I have tried 2 different sets of power/hdd/cables as part of my troubleshooting process...

Rocketfish USB3 and External Hard drive (ejecting randomly)

I got the Rocketfish USB 3 PCIe card to work easily enough using the included generic USB3 multi beast installer. Things were looking pretty good, I was able to duplicate a USB3 hard drive to a bare internal drive (disk util restore), and while the disk technically wasn't mounted, this went...

Mavericks: HDMI Audio - AppleHDA [Guide]

I'm having a hard time getting HDMI audio going on a P55m-UD2 (F11) and nVidia GT630, using DSDT downloaded from here. Patched using MaciASL with the Award bios patch (from your github 5 series repo). And using MultiBeast 'With-DSDT' for HDA888a (887) I have verified layout id's in the DSDT...

Mavericks: HDMI Audio - AppleHDA [Guide]

M - HDMI Audio I thought SSDT only worked if you edited the DSDT to remove the hdef method already in them. Cause thats what I did! So just as easy with GT640 or something?
