Are all your usb ports working? Some builds have problems with usb 3. Have you tried reinstalling protools? It seems to me like a software issue. Make sure it is installed correctly and the ilok is getting the power it needs

Your CPU and ram are fine, not sure about motherboards though. I know that Gigabyte motherboards are the most compatible to i have never looked into asus, just search your motherboard on the forum and have a look at other peolpes builds

I have been told that the ivy bridge motherboards are being discontinued. How long will it take? I am doing an ivy bridge build in a few weeks because I don't want to wait for haswell/can't afford and am worried that I won't be able to get the parts

I'm sure once I have the machine running I wouldn't be looking for an upgrade for a while, it's very powerful for what I need, so by the time I might start looking to upgrade I'm sure there would be a new set of CPUs and mobos and I'd end up upgrading both, but that's a few years away
