I just put back the DTPG SSDT and it didn't make any difference, I still don't see any thunderbolt devices and none of the monitor's built-in functions work. Maybe it comes down to which version of the monitor you have?
Wow, I tried the same thing but didn't have any luck. Are you using a Titan Ridge 1.0 or 2.0 card? And what version of the LG 5k are you using? I'm on the initial release before they updated the power delivery spec etc.
A suggestion I have so people get why you ask for this might be to say "This guide [might change in the future | changes frequently], so please do not quote it in its entirety..."
I just re-read your comment. So with the stock v50 firmware your UltraFine's USB ports and internal devices work? If so, are you using any of the HackinDROM DSDTs?
Update:
The Elias v23 firmware and the Titan Ridge 1.0 on Big Sur with the LG 5k UltraFine screen DOES NOT WORK. The monitor does not turn on after a cold boot and takes several plug/unplug cycles to turn on after a restart, if it happens at all.
Flashing the Titan Ridge card back to stock...
It looks like Big Sur breaks LG UltraFine 5k support. I had it working well with my Z390 Aorus Pro and Titan Ridge 1.0 card with Elias23 firmware but on Big Sur the monitor doesn't turn on when I boot or restart. Has anyone else gotten their setup to work with Big Sur?
I'm using an LG 5k Ultrafine with a Titan Ridge 1.0 on a Z390 Aorus Pro board. I'm on Elias64 nvm23 and using a DSDT from HackinDROM. For the most part it works well. I am experiencing a problem where randomly the screen will go black for 2-3 seconds then return. This can happen anywhere from...
@gandem I really, really appreciate you reporting your experiences, it helps me feel less crazy about trying to get "display on boot" to work with patched firmware.
@gandem I tried the modified NVM50 firmware you posted and my 5K UltraFine still doesn't show the BIOS POST or the Opencore Bootloader, but once booted into MacOS the monitor wakes up. The monitor shows the BIOS etc. on reboots.
Thanks for confirming with your experiences! Is the patched NVM 50 firmware floating around in this thread? If so would you be able to link me to it? I did some googling but wasn't able to find it. Also have you noticed any differences between patched 23 vs. patched 50?
I want to check in with my experiences with Titan Ridge cards and my 5k UltraFine display.
My hardware:
• Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro
• Gigabyte Titan Ridge Rev. 1 (Both unflashed and modified/flashed)
• An LG 5k UltraFine 27" Monitor
• Dual displayport output going from a 5700XT going to the Titan...
