I'm thinking of building the exact same build(no parts purchased yet...4 months in the planning and counting); but with a 980ti. I know the physical install would be the same, but would there be any different processes in getting the card to recognize?
Kiiroaka's recommendation on ram makes perfect sense. If you're using a mobo that has 4 ram slots but buy a kit of 2 sticks, the other 2 ram slots are not being utilized, ultimately limiting your potential of the speeds you desire.
For example, would a 4 legged animal (with the exception of...
I'm looking at building a full tower Atx x99 (Asus Deluxe 2) running an i7 5820k with at least 64gb of ram. Dual booting OS X/win on separate SSD's. Primary use will be for fcpx/iMovie. On the windows side, work stuff and some gaming.
From the options of GPU's listed, which would you choose...
@Fl0r!an so in a new x99 i7 5820k hackintosh build geared to fcpx, would you recommend AMD over a 980ti? And if so, which card would you recommend? I've been racking my brain about this for quite sometime and can't decide.
I hear hackintosh support is better with Nvidea cards vs AMD, but in...
How many GPU's are you planning on running? Be sure to make sure your PSU is enough to run it. 450w is good enough for one GPU, but if you're thinking about running 2 in SLI, then you might have to step up your PSU. The i7 6700k 140w and one GPU ranges around 300w.
@vichti I'm considering the same build as yours (almost identical). In regards to PSU, check your specs on your CPU and your GPU since both off those draw the most power. There are PSU calculators on several web sites (Google Power Supply calculator) including Newegg. If you're looking at...
Anybody have any suggestions on my new build? 980ti vs r9 380?
I'm looking at building an x99(Asus or Gigabyte...still on the fence...leaning more towards Gigabyte) i75820k, 64gb Ram ddr4, but stuck on GPU. :/
@Fl0r!an thank you for the advice. I will revert back to the original GPU I had. Do you see any other issues i can expect...aside from installing the OS...lol
@kiiroaka. I see the déjà vu aforementioned. I asked the same thing on my previous thread and considered your suggestions and have since updated my cart. Now I'm stuck on deciding on the GPU.
@illologist. M.2 is a great feature to have especially with video editing and as a boot drive, but...
One more thing. Should I stick with the 980ti gpu or go with the AMD Radeon R9 390 GPU? Current MBP 15" runs the Radeon 380, so I'm thinking there would be less trouble with compatability right?
