Update Directly to macOS High Sierra

I had a problem free upgrade going from Sierra to High Sierra. Only issue is that I didn't seem to get APFS. Is it better for hackintoshers to stick with HFS+ for now, or should I go through the trouble of formatting my drive, formatting as APFS and then install High Sierra from USB?

    Really Poor Performance

No solution yet I’m afraid. :( The only thing I could do was to disable SpeedStep in the BIOS. The problem is that my CPUs are running at 2.6GHz all the tim, regardless of CPU load.

If true, then this would be amazing. You have no helper card or iGPU, correct??

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

What's the status of older high-end ATI/AMD cards in High Sierra? Do they still need a helper card to avoid the boot to black screen issue?

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

I can confirm that the HD7970/280X (so long as it's not an XFX) works in Sierra. I swapped out my R9 290X (*sigh*) in order to get access to Sierra. What was strange, however, was that when I swapped the 290X for the 7970 in El Capitan, I kept getting kernel panics and boot to black screens...

Quick Guide to Generate a SSDT for CPU Power Management

Even after patching AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement I still get CPU ratios that are far too low: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/quick-guide-to-generate-a-ssdt-for-cpu-power-management.177456/page-31#post-1521796 Anyone have any ideas? I should be getting CPU ratios from 12-33.

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

@Fl0r!an i was wondering if you could help me out with something. I managed to get my hands on a reference 7970, but I'm getting a boot to black screen under El Capitan. What settings should I be using in Clover? E.g. Do I need to include connector info, Inject ATI, and so on?

Quick Guide to Generate a SSDT for CPU Power Management

For some reason my compiled SSDT.aml gives me CPU multipliers that are far too low (image attached to post). Anyway ideas on how to basically double all my multipliers LOL?

Guide: X79 OS X Controlled SpeedStep (CPU Power Management)

I'm pulling my hair out due to being unable to get power management working... How do I know which kext patch to use for my version of OS X?

    Really Poor Performance

I've just confirmed that it's a power management issue. When I disabled SpeedStep and C states in the BIOS, all my performance issues in OS X disappeared. So now the question is: what's preventing OS X from utilising my CPU's SpeedStep functionality? Is it the fact that I'm using a MacPro5,1...

    Really Poor Performance

Awesome thanks. Having such a busy, so hopefully I can give this a shot this weekend. BTW, did you do patch any of the AICPU patches and whatnot? https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-x79-os-x-controlled-speedstep-cpu-power-management.127574/

    Really Poor Performance

That's still a lot better than what my machine is getting. I've updated my original post by adding my config.plist file. Hopefully someone can help out with this issue as the machine is unusable for video editing.

Just curious, how is your CPU performance with this build? I've got slow as molasses performance: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/really-poor-performance.222243/

Quick Guide to Generate a SSDT for CPU Power Management

I see I see. I've taken a look at the SSDT.dsl, but I have no idea how to begin debugging this issue. I've attached a copy of the file to this post. Any takers on what's happening here? For reference, here is the original error message when generating the SSDT: ssdtPRGen.sh v0.9 Copyright (c)...
