I had a problem free upgrade going from Sierra to High Sierra.
Only issue is that I didn't seem to get APFS. Is it better for hackintoshers to stick with HFS+ for now, or should I go through the trouble of formatting my drive, formatting as APFS and then install High Sierra from USB?
I can confirm that the HD7970/280X (so long as it's not an XFX) works in Sierra. I swapped out my R9 290X (*sigh*) in order to get access to Sierra.
What was strange, however, was that when I swapped the 290X for the 7970 in El Capitan, I kept getting kernel panics and boot to black screens...
Even after patching AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement I still get CPU ratios that are far too low:
Anyone have any ideas? I should be getting CPU ratios from 12-33.
@Fl0r!an i was wondering if you could help me out with something.
I managed to get my hands on a reference 7970, but I'm getting a boot to black screen under El Capitan.
What settings should I be using in Clover? E.g. Do I need to include connector info, Inject ATI, and so on?
I've just confirmed that it's a power management issue.
When I disabled SpeedStep and C states in the BIOS, all my performance issues in OS X disappeared.
So now the question is: what's preventing OS X from utilising my CPU's SpeedStep functionality? Is it the fact that I'm using a MacPro5,1...
Awesome thanks. Having such a busy, so hopefully I can give this a shot this weekend.
BTW, did you do patch any of the AICPU patches and whatnot?
That's still a lot better than what my machine is getting.
I've updated my original post by adding my config.plist file. Hopefully someone can help out with this issue as the machine is unusable for video editing.
I see I see. I've taken a look at the SSDT.dsl, but I have no idea how to begin debugging this issue. I've attached a copy of the file to this post.
Any takers on what's happening here? For reference, here is the original error message when generating the SSDT:
ssdtPRGen.sh v0.9 Copyright (c)...
Following step 4 of the original post, I get the following:
ssdtPRGen.sh v0.9 Copyright (c) 2011-2012 by † RevoGirl
v6.6 Copyright (c) 2013 by † Jeroen
