I think the consensus is pretty clear with this one: OpenCore is the future. I get that learning something new is taxing and nobody likes being forced to do so. But what you are doing right now, which is trying a bunch of different things to see which one works, is already a lot harder than...
If you install the app version
If you install the app version of Clover 5126, you can manually check OpenRuntime.efi.
I'm not so sure it will fix your or my problem though. I can boot Catalina fine now using 5126, but still having difficulties upgrading to Big Sur.
The keynote has just ended. I think the main takeaway is that they expect the transition period to be 2 years. Much, much sooner than anyone could have predicted here.
As a newcomer to the hackintosh community, this worries me. Is this it? All that time and effort I put into hackintosh and now...
I have successfully installed the update using a bootable macOS installer flash drive. I did not actually use the installer, only the Clover bootloader provided by UniBeast 10.1.0-4. Using that bootloader instead of the one my internal drive, I was able to see the extra drive meant to install...
Thanks for the trouble. Yes I have 3 drives connected at all times:
250GB for macOS (APFS).
120GB for Windows (NTFS).
1TB non-bootable disk, just straight up personal files accessible to both OS (ExFAT).
What confuses me the most is that the 3rd drive has its own EFI folder. I have attached...
Thanks. I don't know if it's related: after removing FakeSMC.kext in my /Library/Extensions, I can finally use VirtualSMC.kext in MultiBeast 12. Before all of this, I had to manually replace VirtualSMC.kext with FakeSMC.kext in EFI/CLOVER/kext/Other.
Sorry for the ambiguity, the System Preferences says it needs to restart. Usually after I click the restart button, an extra boot option will appear in Clover. But it doesn't appear now, I can only go back to my usual boot where the System Preferences will again tell me that there's an update...
Has anyone with this motherboard and CPU been able to upgrade to 10.15.5?
My EFI configuration here works great with 10.15.4, but can't seem to upgrade to 10.15.5 using System Preferences > Software Update.
I messed this one myself. What would be an easier way to intall WhateverGreen.kext within Clover screen? Because all I got past Clover is blank screen. I tried `-x -v -f` boot args, `nv_disable=1` (even though mine is RX580), none seem to work.
Update:
I can still use my blank screen computer...
Thank you, kind sir. May I see the rest of your configuration in your build tab? I have changed my USB configuration accordingly. Sadly, that restart to reboot thing is still happening.
Here's mine.
I can't find CFG-Lock as well. But Secure Boot Mode is easily discoverable (and I'm on F1 BIOS), I remember it being disabled by default.
Now I'm struggling with which options to check in MultiBeast USB configuration. My High Sierra always reboot everytime I leave it sleeping for long period...
Before I reinstalled macOS High Sierra on my primary drive, there was Windows on my secondary drive. But since I upgraded my motherboard and CPU, I had to re-run the installation. Now I can't see the third Windows boot option on Clover, which usually brings me to Windows. Seeing that secondary...
