Old thread. Hopefully, it helps someone.
Gutted that I didn't try it any earlier. Apparently, HP has moved away from wifi whitelist from models 2016 onwards.
So, I thought why not.
Got Dell DW1820A BCM94350ZAE and its working better than my original intel card, even on windows. Getting 500mbps...
Nvermind. Figured it out. Switched to windows to test the usb 3.0 ports and then just set them as usb 3.0 in this tool and injected the exported kext and acpi files.
All good now.
This can be marked as solved now.
Hi,
So, I have almost fixed everything on my Hackintosh. Right now, I'm working to fix 3.0 ports.
I've used Hackintool to patch the USB. My laptop says, two of my ports are 3.0. But, how can I determine which one are they? Below is the SS for the same.
All of my ports are selected as 2.0...
Hey @RehabMan, my battery percentage is correct now, Tried both charging and discharging, status was getting updated. But I don't see battery listed under "Energy Saver" in Preferences. Because of this my laptops sleeps as soon as its on idle and on battery. Does this mean I didn't patch correctly?
So I googled a bit more and I found this:
Every Hp Laptop's manual has a list of whitelisted cards.
Below are the one which will work for sure:
Integrated Wireless options with single antenna (M.2/PCIe):
● Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 M.2 Combo Adapter
● Realtek RTL8723BE...
hey guys,
I know my current wifi adapter (Intel AC-3165 WiFi) is not compatible with macOS so I need help in figuring out a card which will work i.e. are white listed for HP.
As per this thread...
easy peasy. I don't have this laptop, bit I know for sure, dual boot issue cannot be laptop specific. Just follow @RehabMan's guide to dual/tripe/quad boot.
Just an F.Y.I. if someone stumbles on this thread, Mieze said that for this chipset, driver needs an update and she might not be able to update this. So don't hold your breath and look for alternative.
thanks a lot. I'll talk to her. I saw her thread, she did reply saying that driver is working fine as it is getting the IP.
My only concern is that, it is saying "Unknown chip version" and detecting it as RTL8101E. But mine is RTL8136 (checked in windows).
cables, router has to be ok because i have windows 10, mint on the same laptop working perfectly.
can firewall be the issue? I mean, its a fresh install and all I am trying to ping is google. Anyways I'll check that out as well.
Adding the system.log for the curious mind:)
Edit: Firewall is off.
ok, I have posted it in his thread as well. NO response yet. Also, there was another person with same issue. I did not see him finding any solution as well.
Thanks for your help. I'll PM him I guess, interim I guess I'll have to order a compatible usb wifi. This might take a while :)
