there are multiple successive HDMI Audio threads and solutions posted for the Gigabyte Z170 and Intel530 onboard graphics. do a search and READ would help only yourself.

Just would like to share my success after following this thread and the fix for Intel530 flickering. I was able to amend the "Audio on HDMI" to have sound divert to the channel as per attached screen capture. This was done using TextEdit to open and edit the file below by adding the below...

any chance to get a working copy of your appleHDA.kext? i upgraded to 10.9 accidentally lost all back up of the working kext. no joy having no audio. thanks a bunch
