I second what BoomR says about trying to keep things in separate busses (interfaces and storage for example). FWIW I've found better reliability with FireWire interfaces using Logic and Live. I have all my Midi and peripherals on USB while just my interface on FireWire. Firewire also sends data...
*Edit: This installer seems to be a driver patch and does not alter the card's firmware.
SUCCESS! I bit the bullet and installed the ATIDriverPatch10.6.8 via the included installer package found here http://macprovideocards.com/1068update/ and it worked!
Latest version here...
Update: Wifi Airport Card is now working!
I'm using user DSDT for my P55a-UD3 v3 with F11 BIOS.
I noticed something strange: Whenever I booted from the iBoot Disc v3.3.0 my system loaded to the desktop quickly and the Airport Card was recognized in System Profiler and working normally. However...
UPDATE!
I removed the sleepenabler.kext manually by removing the drive and finding it in the file directory using a second mac and a drive sled. Now I can boot with and without iBoot! However when I boot without the iBoot disc my system is very slow to load. I also don't have Airport wifi any...
Ok so I created a bootable clone vi ccc and rerunning multibeast (v 3.3).
I restarted off that working clone and then ran the 10.6.8 combo update.
After running the combo update I restarted but got a KP (see the attached pic). -I then tried booting from my iBoot disk v 2.6.3 but can't get past...
Hi Going Bald, I'm just about to go ahead with this when I noticed you refer to my system as a SandyBridge system. I show it as an 1156 socket (not 1155) which I believe is Lynnfield.... Is Update Helper still the way to go for this?
-Ok I assume I still need to run Multibeast 3.3 again after installing the 10.6.8 Update and prior to the final restart. Is that right? I'm using NullCPUManager and the SleepEnabler.kext too.
So I've had an awesome stable system running on 10.6.6 for the past four years as my audio production rig and it's been great. I run Logic and Ableton live aand built this so I'd have a powerful audio production machine. It has delivered - thanks to this community!
Now I'm faced with a dilemma...
I'm trying to figure out how to remove this aluminum tray that the Mac Pro wind tunnel mounts to?
Anyone know the best way, the rivets underneath seem unreachable.
Just got my brand new Mac Pro Case and mapping out moving my current components to the case but I have some questions about the wiring included.
1. There are three wires connected to the base of the case that go into a small aluminum box numbered 1-3 (see pic). What are these for and what's...
Thanks guys, really nice builds, and those fans look like a good option.
This might be a difficult follow up question... but since I am considering moving components from my Antec 1200 (great cooling ability) to a Mac Pro case, what to expect in terms of cooling for the Mac Pro have me...
Hi there,
I'm considering a Mac Pro Case mod but am concerned about HD cooling and temperatures with the factory drive sleds vs a third party drive cage. I've got 4 drives so I need to use all slots.
Anyone have any temps to report?
It seems like not a lot of hot air can escape those...
