Hi all, sorry another quick question.
If I open a folder with lots of photos (I'm talking around 15GB worth of photos), and if try and scroll through them (whilst clicking random ones to show a quick preview) quickly using my apple mouse, it often lags quite a bit (with the preview. I faintly...
Hey everyone - got a question around external drives (such as USB flash drives and external HDDs for backup).
If I leave a USB flash drive connected, my Mac won't sleep, with pmset -g assertions giving the reason as:
2020-08-13 18:02:10 +0100
Assertion status system-wide:
For now I'm going to leave the machine like this and save any remaining brain-power/patience I have for the Big-Sur installation later this year. I think with the way things are progressing, @CaseySJ may even move to Opencore for the install guide for Big Sur.
Disabling All Maintenance Wake Events During Sleep
Please do not quote this guide in its entirely. Post a link instead.
This is a write-up on my Findings on getting Sleep working on my Hackintosh. Would love if @CaseySJ and other more learned members of the forum could peer-review this.

@hitINdaGs from what I can see, you've done all the usual suspects such as turning off Powernap and TCPKeepAlive - 0. Can you also double check you have PowerNap set to off within Energy Saver Preferences, as well as 'Wake for network access'
There's one more thing we can...
Sure thing! I'm still working on a few more tweaks, and will 100% present a summary of my findings once I'm done.
And I'm by no means an expert. I'm only here thanks to your guides, easy to understand language and amazing team-player mentality which has created such an amazing thread/community!
Ok (heavy breathing). I think I may be onto something in regards to Coreduet not allowing sleep for around 40 minutes.
Thanks to this thread on MacRumors, I've been able to get the Hack to sleep. I also basically had the same com.apple.routined.persistence.mirroring.backup issue come up, and...
Hey Casey, quick update.
The CoreDuet issue always lasts 30/40 minutes after a fresh reboot, at which point it'll go to sleep just fine. Even after that (as in if I wake it and leave it), it'll go to sleep within 3 minutes of waking it no matter how many times I trigger this flow. This leads me...
Thanks Casey. I first did the points you mentioned at the bottom of your post [i.e a), b), c) and then d)] and can confirm that if I turn off iCloud completely, sleep works fine, however as soon as I sign back in, the Coreduet.Sync command comes back.
I also followed your above steps (re...
Quick update. Turning off iCloud Drive didn't solve the issue, however signing out of iCloud completely did. It now goes to sleep within 3 minutes every time. WiFi is also on and connected and no issues.
Does this point to an iCloud issue? And if so, is it specific to my machine, or have...
This is a brand new install so not installed office yet. I do however have iCloud setup so will uncheck iCloud Drive for now and report back, at which point we can then sign out of iCloud all together
Thanks @CaseySJ. I've attached activity monitor and have sorted it by CPU. Can't see anything untoward.
I've also (attached) sorted by 'Preventing Sleep' and have found nothing. Lastly, I've attached the terminal screenshot from when I do pmset -g assertions
