ONE YEAR UPDATE:
Hey all, OP here. :)
I rarely check into this thread, because my build has worked and worked flawlessly. Guess what? It's been one year since I made this build. Wow, time flies.
I'm really shocked at how smooth this build has been running this entire time. Literally no issues...
Make a cup of coffee while you wait? ;)
My boot up time from a cold boot is probably about 4 minutes. But I use the Sleep function and just set the computer to sleep when not in use. You could do the same.
Hey all, OP here.
I moved, and moved my "2018 Mac Pro Replacement" in the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv case into a room where there's carpet on the floor. Since it's not really great to keep a tower with vents on a floor with carpet (blocks airflow) I found a perfect stand that will keep the tower off...
If it ain't broke, don't fix it... :)
If you experience issues, then you have the fixes at your disposal.
Honestly, I don't know. Like anything, it could work just fine, or it could have unforeseen issues, (especially with an overlock) and I would just be speculating anyway so I'm not sure.
Just wanted to circle back on this. The card above arrived on Friday, and I installed it this weekend.
Just popped it into the HP 8300 SFF, rebooted, and it auto-rebooted a few times to detect the card. On the third auto reboot, it worked like a charm!
I have one 1080p display connected via...
Yeah! The HP 8300 I built using your guide works so well, it's been chugging along with no issues! :)
That's great info about the Nvidia GT 710. So it's basically just plug and play? I'm seeing the card new on Amazon for $45 so that's a great option. I'm not in a rush, so I'll wait to see if...
Hey @trs96 (or anyone else!) :)
For my basic system, I have a fully functional HP 8300 SFF where I'm using the on-board integrated Intel HD graphics to power one 1080p monitor. Works great.
I was thinking about having a dual monitor setup for this system, and I don't need 4k at all, just...
This issue thread like it might assist you:
Might be as simple as ensuring you have the correct Nvidia driver version installed:
And once again I don't have...
Before doing any costly change, I would simply confirm/research possible tweaks needed to get your Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti and your memory working with your build. But it's a vastly different build.
Also, I was very specific with the memory I chose for this build to avoid problems. I looked at the...
You will need to research on getting the 1080 Ti to work with your system. Your system is unfortunately very different from my build as the two biggest components to a build are the motherboard and video card, with the third being compatible memory.
You have two out of the three of the key...
You have different memory and a completely different Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, is this correct?
The change from using the built-in support for AMD video cards like my build, vs. using an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti will require quite a bit of tweaking to get support.
My build was made to have as much native...
