@lesel thanks! Did you have to do anything else special to upgrade to Sierra. I left my Mac as a Mac Pro 5,1 and I copied the installer from another Mac. It let me attempt to install but when I tried to reboot to actually install, the system hung. I will try again with the iMac designation...
Thanks everybody, especially @ramda and @Going Bald.
Using the current Clover (8/30/2017) and El Cap 10.11.6, I was able to install the OS just fine but I couldn't boot without the USB stick.
I was able to get past kernel panics and can now sleep, restart, shutdown, network...
A few years (and OSes) back, I was able to fix the USB sleep/wake issue on an EP45-UD3P mobo by replacing the USB section of my DSDT with the attached entries. I am not the author of the fix and do not understand the details; but the patch worked for me for many years and through several...
1) Thanks so much for this comprehensive thread; I'm sure I'll be back.
2) For this section
If it's a panic in a AppleUSBUHCIPCI.kext or AppleUSBXHCIPCI.kext:
Try adding a DSDT.aml to EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/ if you have one

I could temporarily boot my system past the kernel panics without the Clover Unibeast USB...
I figured out the setting Kenia and others are referring to and am pasting the original config and my config below.
It worked for me on an EP45-UD3P (old board!). No Kernel Panics on HPET or AppleUSBetc.
The link in the "Big List of Solutions" takes you to the beginning of a thread but the...
Any progress with this? I got this too (well, under 10.5.8 on an EP45-UD3P) but I can't tell if it happened in conjunction with VMWare Fusion and/or unplugging/disconnecting from the internet and then reconnecting the cable.
It's really the strangest thing.
If you get desperate and have the...
I can get you to 10.6.8 and maybe you can figure out the rest from there if you still want 10.6.3.
But you won't have custom resolution of graphics and you might not any time soon. Bluetooth works but wireless doesn't -- you'll need a third party wireless dongle that you have a Mac driver for...
This worked for me too.
I was able to go straight to 10.6.8 update by first running UpdateHelper after initial setup....restarting... then updating to 10.6.8 and removing the Apple Intel HD kexts mentioned... from then on I could install MultiBeast and get other things working.
Of course, as...
