Finally upgraded to Big Sur... I had to update my BIOS so I could disable CFG lock... Did the trick, you can also apply patches that achieve a similar result.

What are you using as a boot loader? I'm new to this stuff, but i think you have some ssdt's missing in your efi.

Converted from Clover to OpenCore & installed the latest Big Sur Pubic Beta. Minor issues caused by not having all my SSDT's installed. After that, it went through fine.

All, Attached is a copy of my Open Core EFI that I just created & replaced my old Clover boot loader. My hardware is the following: Aorus Z390 Pro WIFI, I8700K, internal GPU, 16 gig of ram, & and SSD HD. Hope it helps... Thanks

My system is in my signature, I am running 10.15.5, took me like 4 months to get it to update.

I changed to virtual smc, & I was able to update.. Not sure if that was the problem, but I am now on 10.15.5.

Are you using fake smc?

Finally was able to upgrade to the latest version of catalina. I switched to virtual SMC from fake smc... install worked perfectly..... finally.

Attached is a copy of my EFI & custom SSDT map... My system is stable, but i can't update to the latest version. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks

Sorry I posted in another thread, but still having the same issues trying to update to the latest version of catalina. Could an acpi error be causing the install to cause a kernal panic? Thanks
