Hi @neuf79, I haven't been on in a while but here is my setup for the fans. As you can see in the photos, I placed a spacer I made from a plastic mounting bracket that came with a SanDisk SSD. Worked quite well because it is sticky on one side.
Do you have Windows installed too? I upgraded to 4.0 and was able to get it back to 1.2. While in Windows, I downgraded to 1.6 then to 1.3. After that, I was able to get to 1.2 by flashing it from a flash drive in setup. I did it late last night so I can’t remember if I went directly from 1.6...
That is good to know. After seeing your post, I found an older post by @pupin stating that a Broadcom card would work for our motherboard. Looks like now I can free up my m.2 slot. A couple of months back, I went with the route pictured below. Thanks for the info! Time to go fix it.
@Mrviking, it took a few times for it to actually install. I kept clicking install, and it would restart, but nothing changed. On the Clover boot page instead of "Boot Mac OS from Mac", I selected "Boot Mac OS install from MAC", and it worked.
I am not experiencing any coil whine either. My build is quite silent. I haven’t pushed it beyond running benchmarks.
This is what I’m running with my ASRock z390 Phantom ITX: Corsair SF600 SFX, LPX 16 GB 3000, i5-8400, RX 580, noctua CPU cooler, and two noctua case fans packed into a node 202...
@ammulder could I get away with installing my Sapphire Pulse RX 580 in my Fractal Node case without two case fans for a couple of days? I won't push the system. I was really concerned about it arriving today and I forgot to order the fans. I ordered it yesterday morning and, for some reason...
My first Hackintosh and 7 years since my last PC build:
ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX
i5-8400
16 GB DDR4-3000 Corsair Vengeance LPX
Samsung Evo 970 500 GB M.2Will update as soon as my Sapphire Pulse RX 580 arrives. Ordered it today but Amazon gave me a delivery date of Tuesday. Must be...
Thanks again for your help and for the advice! I will get around to doing the post install configuration later, my girlfriend is going to kill me if I don't step away from the computer, and I will let you know how everything goes. Also, I may need some more help, down the road, when I grab my...
I had to format my system drive to allow the OS to install. The disk is formatted as APFS and I would like it to be HFS+, like the flash drive and I read the Evo performs faster in that format. If I configure, using your guide, will it format it to HFS+ and do I still check off, in the clover...
@ammulder Thank you very much. I will try that. Extremely noob question, where would be the proper place to start the thread? I've been researching and reading up, on this site for about a year now, and I just became a member and I am still not very sure where I should post this build. Your...
@ammulder I didn't want to hijack the thread, but the info may prove useful to @Lulujam. I am, actually, typing from my Hackintosh. I haven't gone through the post installation yet.
My computer won't boot without the flash drive, I created from your guide, installed. I do have current Geekbench...
I’ve been following this thread. I have the same board. I had the same problems until I reflashed to 1.2 and then erased my 970 Evo SSD in setup before loading. Now I made it to the macOS utilities screen and I’m lost. I went into disk utility and formatted the ssd so it would show up to...
