My 4530s battery seems to near the end of its life. I found all the spare parts for the HP batteries but they are quit expensive and perhaps old stock by now. I tried two cheap batteries from China (really cheap so worth the risk). One was a 9 cell that started great but gave me only an hour...
Wow, I did it! So much thanks to anyone who contributed here! I've made some notes and pics to try and do something in return. Here are my observations:
1) Took me three hours, never opened a laptop before in my life but have always assembled my own pc's
2) The keyboard connector is a latch...
Still preparing, parts are in. I changed my aml file but was not 100% sure about what I did. Saving the aml from installer to USB failed, no matter how I formatted (tried two macosx options unencrypted and exfat) USB the installer would not let me us it as an install location. I also tried...
Thanks. Now editted my own file on mac. Will try the dsdt via windows as well just to be sure then.
Booting with another aml file itself is possible with new screen on (there is an image I assume, just not after you have fully booted, right?)
Everything has arrived, now I need to find some time.
One thing I am not 100% sure of. If I messed up the 1080p aml file, will I be able to fix that (at least boot and use desktop?) If I cant see a thing in OSX then I'd have to remount the old display to fix that?
I just ordered B156HW01 V.4, 15,6" from screen-shop.net directly (not their ebay site). As mentioned above on their site they claim 0% dead pixel guarantee and it was eur 2 cheaper ;-)
Wil keep you posted!
I'm very tempted to do this, screen looks great! One thing holding me back is that so many people have broken the hinges. Is there a foolproof way to avoid breaking them or is it just a matter of force and luck?
