    HDMI/VGA Output Problems - Qosmio X775

UPDATE: I tried out OpenCore, and it’s the best decision that I’ve ever made! My setup works the same as before, and I’m happy to report that I got my HDMI output working perfectly by following this guide: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/gpu-patching/nvidia-patching/ The only...

    HDMI/VGA Output Problems - Qosmio X775

I’ve never had that much luck with Clover, which is why I tried and ended up liking Chameleon. I haven’t attempted to use OpenCore before, but it looks very promising as there’s a lot of documentation, and the config file seems very cohesive. It seems like a bit of a stretch just to get my...

    HDMI/VGA Output Problems - Qosmio X775

UPDATE: Turns out that those boot to black screens are actually kernel panics. (I just had RebootOnPanic disabled in Chameleon.) Because the screen goes black when initializing the GPU, I’m unable to view in verbose mode where the actual panic occurs. Unless I could somehow export a log of the...

    HDMI/VGA Output Problems - Qosmio X775

I wish the solution was that plain simple… I’ve tried this in the past only to have the same issues as before. Along with this, the Nvidia web drivers cause frequent freezing which force me to cut off the power and reboot.

    HDMI/VGA Output Problems - Qosmio X775

After years of perseverance, macOS runs like a dream on my laptop alongside Windows and Ubuntu. Along the way, one of the biggest nightmares and challenges that I’ve had regarding this laptop is the Fermi GPU. It’s an “NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M,” and after a lot of trial and error, I’ve found a...

Display brightness slider not showing up in system preferences on a Qosmio X775-3DV78 laptop.

I’ve gone old school and just about successfully installed El Capitan on my 2011 laptop. So far I’ve been able to get my trackpad, keyboard/touchbar, usb 2.0/3.0, cd drive, web camera, bluetooth, wifi, ethernet, and speakers working. I’ve been busy trying to get the display brightness slider to...

[solved] Kernel Panic Halfway Through Installation of High Sierra

Thanks for the prompt reply; turns out actually that this was just a false alarm. There's just a ton of lag during the installation process. The installation seems to have worked and I overthought it as a kernel panic. Thanks for making the kexts! If I run into any real issues post-install, I'll...

[solved] Kernel Panic Halfway Through Installation of High Sierra

I've hit a brick wall while trying to hackintosh an older gaming laptop (Toshiba Qosmio X775-3DV78). I'm able to boot into the installer, but halfway through the installation, my laptop goes black and reboots. I can't seem to find anyone else here who's experienced this same issue and I'm not...
