Maybe remove the card so it can only use iGPU?
Or or make sure the primary display was set in the bios? It has an auto detect primary display feature. Maybe set it to be the iGPU or the Card. Try both.
I benchmarked both under windows using GeekBench 4. It's marginal. This is just one run - I find it varies from run to run in Geekbench.

If you want to upgrade the GPU you could put the new GT 1030 in it, or go for a low-profile GTX 1050ti at other end...

So my Alienware Alpha R1 has been rock solid in use.
But it's randomly rebooting in the night, and this morning when I tried remote into it. (It's on Ethernet, so maybe receiving wake on lan signals). Not kernal panics, just random reboots.
Going by the console I can see some Darkware Exit...
Do its not a laptop - no keyboard. It's basically like a Mac mini with a great GPU and upgradeable ram, cpu and ssd.
Not sure what the ebay link is, I can find it.
But basically any Alpha R1 will work. They are all the same where it counts, just different cpu.

I picked up a used Alienware Alpha R1 for peanuts on eBay. It's the i3 model and had 16GB RAM.
First things first
Check it boots OK with Windows.
Check BIOS version and Update to latest - this was already on A05.
