Mine is also located in slot 5, WiFi worked oob. Only PCI impl was a hazzle, but I can help you with that once your card is recognized again. Did you once boot without card and then reseat it?

Thanks for all your answers. With my real Mac (MBP) I never had this issue so I can't test it there. The USB hard drives were from Seagate, also tested pen drives by SanDisk and others. So far all behave the same. Will have a look into Mountain, thanks. Thanks for your kext and uploads...

ah, I guess I wrote it in a wrong way. My computer freezes only after doing all steps 1-5. But I guess yours is fine.
