I have fit a standard ATX case in a mac pro case but there is literally a hairline of space on the sides of the board. The spot where you plug in your jumper cables will most likely be blocked by metal for the hard drive so you will need to trim that. I don't recommend it, not without removing...
I have kept it simple. I don't even make a bracket, I gorilla glue 2 x 140mm fans or 3 x 120mm fans together. The 2 x 140mm fans is quieter and moves more air but sometimes you already have 3 x 120mm on hand. The gorilla glue is strong enough to hold them, but weak enough that you can easily...

Thanks for sharing more photos, I'm trying to live through you bit since I'm not able to finish my own conversion project. I really dig the up close shots of the epoxy jobs. The fact that you took the time to space the front usb evenly instead of just using the existing firewire...
That is going to looks so good when its done, amazing flush job. Nice that there is enough room there for the 120mm fan. I have the same motherboard and its definitely worthy of all the time.
I think that was me. I'm glad others are doing the front panel mod with the dual USB. I first found this method on a Russian website 5 years ago, really smart idea. Your case project looks great, thank you for sharing.
Can you share some photos of the back of the case, for me that is the most...
Quite a feat. I've done the same myself, but without a drill press and let me tell you your hand starts to hurt pretty bad by the 300th hole. The fact that you made the housing out of a side door of the case was a great idea, the metal looks great.
@Jimran
This is such a fine display, thanks for sharing your progress. Just such attention to detail, can't even find the words. Regarding your impressive drill press, do you have to move it manually to drill each hole or does it allow you to program it to do more than one hole on it's own...
Can it be done? Maybe. It sounds incredibly difficult if not impossible. Laptop chassis are not made to fit w/e parts you want, they are made to fit specific parts they shipped with and whether or not a latte can fit in it is anyone's guess.
Congrats on being done! Modding a G5 case is no easy task and I completely understand why so many people never finish their project. At least you are done, I've been struggling with mine for a couple months now.
How i know about setbacks. I've been working on my case mod for nearly 3 months, mostly because setbacks come up and you have to change plans or fix something or order yet another item and it all takes a lot of time. I spent so much time trying painting only to have to sand and restart because...
