I'm now daily using a Focusrite Clarett 2Pre. The audio interface uses a Intel DSL2210 Thunderbolt 1 controller (launched in 2011, runs in pcie 2.0*4).
Here is my case:
Clarett connected to Proart Z690 directly with TB3-2 adapter: after each "physical" unplugge and plugge, a cold boot is...
Well, maybe you should double-check my suggestions carefully.
Instead of flashing modified BIOS into your motherboard, UEFI-editor page showed another approach down below. You can modify some setting value teporarilty with the modded efi shell. A usb flash-disk is required for this step. After...
Check this. As you have 2305 now, you can jump step 1~3, and copy the example command code directly.
@CaseySJ I think the section for downgrading BIOS maybe worth mentioning for many people. Theoretically this should work for all 12th and 13th-gen Asus motherboards (intel only). Just now I...
With 2103 installed, you can still reverse to 9901. However, note that you can NEVER downgrade your ME without an SPI flasher. Asus suggests to update to ME 16.1.25.1885 with BIOS 2103, and the corresponding ME to 9901&1720 is 16.0.15.1735.
Actually, I wonder if you have already updated your ME...
Well, it depends on your current Thunderbolt controller firmware edition. If you have ever upgraded to BIOS 2204 or higher, then your TB firmware would be upgraded from NVM31 to NVM36, dropping TB1&2 device support. Downgrading your BIOS would not help, until we received BIOS 9901, which is...
My wrong. I found that the efi I extracted have the same MD5 code as the one extracted from 1003, which indicates:
The two efi (TB firmware update tool in 9901 and 1003) are identical.
Asus engineers did not change anything in BIOS 9901 Thunderbolt firmware update part. They changed somewwhere...
@etorix @CaseySJ Bros, it seems I've made it, a seperate EFI shell tool for downgrading Thunderbolt firmware!
I accidentally retrived a .efi from BIOS 9901 with UEFI-Tool, and the part has almost identical file structure compared to the .efi Thunderbolt firmware update tool (extracted by...
1. Most probably, yes. If failed, you can still downgrade with UEFI-tool and FPTW. I succeeded in downgrading 2103 t0 1720 in this way. 2204 can be downgraded to 2013 with ezflash.
2. I've heard about claims that unsuitable ME to current BIOS would cause serious performance issues, but I did...
Intel dropped TB 1 & 2 compatibility with NVM36, so none TB 1&2 device would worl with NVM36 or newer firmware, even with a Tthunderbolt dock. I tested that with a HP TB3 dock and Focusrite Clarett 2Pre Thunderbolt.
However, the dock did improve compatibility (under NVM31). Without the dock...
Apple Removes Last Remnants of Intel Silicon
According to ifixit, Apple actually used JHL8040R on M1 Macbook Air, Pro, and Mac Mini; on M2 MBA & MBP, JHL8040 is replaced by a chip labeled "U09PY3". @etorix did U mean that "U09PY3" and JHL8040R does much less than normal Intel controllers, and...
