back in the "old days" before dynamic dsdt patching/fixing, we used to be required to add method DTGP to the beginning of our DSDT. so I agree it doesn't matter where the method is defined as long as it is defined.
I need to enable wifi to use internet sharing from my NUC8i3BEH to my Roku.
I am using the M.2 slot for an SSD. while we wait for a kext for the onboard intel wifi, is there an internal wifi solution that is working well?
it is very likely that Migration Assistant installed the hda enabler kext from your old system. as I said earlier, Apple says that kind of thing isn't supposed to happen but it's happened to me twice. the first time I thought it was a fluke; the second time I realized it was a bug...
I have found that, counter to what apple says, migration assistant messes with kexts in /Library/Extensions.
before you used migration assistant, where did you have AppleALC installed? go to that location now and see if it is still there, and if it is, check to see that it is the latest version.
try booting from your backup. the bug in 10.15.5 doesn't cause the backup program to fail. but the backup produced by SuperDuper, unless they have released an update in the last couple of days like CCC has, won't boot.
apparently apple introduced a bug at the very end of 10.5.5 beta testing which caused carbon copy cloner and super duper to no longer work properly. there is a beta version of CCC available, not sure about super duper. see the carbon copy cloner website for an explanation.
I have an old Shuttle case (m-ITX) that has an H81 board in it that I've been wanting to upgrade. I took a quick look at the specs for your m-ITX and it looks like the only M.2 slot is an e-key slot for wifi, and no b-key slot or m-key slot for an SSD. is that right?
this was a catchphrase from a classic mid-60's TV show named Get Smart. Don Adams was "Agent 86", Maxwell Smart. His sidekick, Barbara Feldon, was "Agent 99". what I didn't realize till just now was that it was "created by" Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. lots of corny humor and sight gags...
good question. maybe I'm over my skis in wanting something I don't need. all I do need is lit-up display, and camera and mic for Zoom/FaceTime.
are you using the SSDT-TbtOnPch-Gigabyte-Z390-AORUS from post 20,829, and renaming _E17/not renaming _INI in your dsdt, and the recommended BIOS...
@CaseySJ--I am still working with your SSDT for enabling my GC-Alpine Ridge (unfleshed).
after much experimentation, I generally get one of three conditions after a boot.
1) Apple TB display shows the entire boot, and at the end of boot the display functions but not the peripherals (camera...
