Anybody managed to extract BIOS 7B24v1B to check for CFG Lock var ?
Following this guide https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/misc/msr-lock.html# disabling-cfg-lock and getting unknown protocol error when ifrextract.
I see many people are switching to open core and so I thought about starting this thread where to collect info, guides and etc.
To all the people looking at open core:
- Why is it better ?
- Could you post some guides ?
Just did
tried them to power off
Same error
quite strange I just understood that it happens only if I unplug the cord while the computer is off
if I leave the power plugged in while the computer is off or I just reboot: it doesn’t happen
Did the upgrade
Got this error on first attempt
Then It succeded
But then I'm getting a random boot error every time I shut down the computer.
It takes me to press reset at leat 3 times before it boots correctly
I've Updated Lilu, Whatevergreen, Apple ALC, Virtual SMC, Clover to the latest...
I've gotten Catalina 10.15.2 Installed and working
Things I'm trying to fix:
- USB 3, I can't seem to find the SS ports while testing and looking at IOReg
- For some strange reason, at every reboot I get "couldn't allocate runtime area" and I need to retry 3 times before getting it to boot
Ok

Installed Mojave
Installed clover through multibeast
When I boot from the main drive I keep getting : error 0x118e couldn’t allocate runtime area
I get it with both : Samsung 970 Pro and...

Has anyone had success getting a Retina display withTrue Tone to work on an Hackintosh ?
And which models did and/or could work ?
Then I should stick with a pair of Samsung 970 Pro
Regarding the graphics card, great, I've also read the GPU buying guide on TonyMac and I understood I should avoid a XFX vega 64 but I haven't understood which brand works best
- If I were to take a single Vega 64, which brand should I buy ...

Planning to use a couple of Sabrent Rocket NVME...
Has anyone succeeded having the same config with NVMe Drive ?
My Config:
- i7-8700
- Samsung 970 EVO 250GB (with latest firmware)
