See that is what I find interesting. If the Mac Pro gets thunderbolt without integrated graphics users will have to use a non-thunderbolt Apple cinema displaying assuming they want an Apple Cinema display...
Could someone tell me if integrated graphics are required to have thunderbolt? I'm asking this because someone posted this as a requirement to have the display run over thunderbolt port.
As a side thought if we see the Mac Pros with thunderbolt this summer do you think we will see motherboard...
Just noticed Gigabyte's new Thunderbolt Z77 boards at the Computex convention with Realtek audio :) Very excited about this!

Edit: I wonder what Apple is going to do regarding the Mac Pro as the current Sandy Bridge-E...
MK500, any idea if you can replace the little fan on the Northbridge? I had one go on me years ago on a Pentium 4 system from Abit motherboards. Once it died my northbridge overheated. I'm a little worried how long that little fan will last for.
I don't think you will sleep work until Apple releases support for Ivy Bridge.
EDIT: I was tempted with the Asus Maximus mATX Z77 but the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H-WB also has Realtek audio which is tempting too knowing how well Gigabyte boards have worked in a hackintosh.
You should try plugging in your mouse and keyboard into different usb ports. I have heard that with some mobos with the z77 chipset certain usb ports do not work.
Hopefully this will change with the next kernel release of OSX from Apple to support the upcoming ivy-bridge iMacs and MacBook Pros.
As for the memory, dual channel memory will work in quad channel inputs as quad channel so long as you have four of them.
The same thing applies too if you use two quad channel memory sticks or four in a dual channel board where it will run in dual channel.
Sorry, yes I meant to say it still should work. They are 'slightly' different but it should work none the less. You can use the link below to aid you in your installation as the boards are similar. The Gene is essentially a smaller variant of the Rampage.
I was going to pick up the Gene IV for...
Mine does the same thing. Auto sleep with the timer does not do anything. If I manually do it then the system shuts off. Upon hitting the keyboard or mouse the system reboots. I was able to get it to sleep manually before I installed Please sleep. I uninstalled that app but it hasn't fixed...
Has anyone gone back to Snow Leopard because of issues with Lion and their Hackintosh?
I'm asking this because I'm debating to go back to Snow Leopard because I can't get my sleep to work. I had it working sort of in Lion where I could do it manually. Then I installed the please sleep app and...
Why is it that boards from Asus, MSI, ASrock and etc require mods to run OSX and do all of them require mods as they are based on the same chipset?
Also the new ivy bridge Z77 chipset boards from Gigabyte use VIA audio. How do you tell the difference when looking at the specs online whether...
Just wondering if anyone has successfully got their apple boot screen to display properly on a 1080p monitor. I remember reading a while back the it was not supported so the white screen with the apple logo only took up part of the screen.
Your best bet is picking up any one of the Asus or Gigabyte Z77 ivy bridge boards because the USB3 on those boards are controlled by the Intel chipset instead of a third party controller. I know some people have got it working with USB2.0 devices on the USB3.0 ports.
When Apple starts rolling...
