I was working on updating to Big Sur. My plan was to do a clean install and then import everything from the old drive. I will admit that I am not an expert when it comes to this process, which is why I deeply appreciate the resources available here. At any rate, while I was making my Big Sur...
Unless you have the original receipt from when it was purchased from Apple or some Apple Authorized Seller, the "Genius" Bar will tell you to pound sand. I am done buying Apple Products. I have to say after my experience with this nonsense, I would not buy another Apple product. I read this...
I created an SD bootdisk and booted that from Clover startup screen and installed it over the old installed version of Sierra. When it first rebooted, I started from that same SD again and then it created another "preboot" partition that I booted from for it to install the OS. WOrks now!
I've noticed this as well. The computer will restart when I leave it sitting for a few hours. I am guessing that it happens when it sleeps, but I haven't actually confirmed it. It is not that big of a deal because the machine restarts quickly, but it can be annoying.
So, I went ahead and used the Migration Assistant to transfer over the programs and settings and then suddenly, the NVIDIA Web drivers were asking to update when I restarted and it is working amazingly. I had also had a problem with El Capitan recognizing the ethernet which has also remedied...
I have the GTX 750ti NVIDIA graphics on my CustoMac. From what I am reading and investigating, this is not going to function well with Sierra. It is working at the moment. When I say working, I mean that the computer boots and I can use the computer. Unfortunately, the drivers are not...
First of all, thanks for all of your support and documentation. I have managed with a bit of trial and error to get my system up and running with 10.11.5. However, I now have an issue with my Ethernet being disabled. I am pretty certain that it is the 10.11.5 update that is the culprit...
Success at last. My video card is working well, but only with VGA. I was able to use the Color Munki to calibrate the monitor, which is a good sign. I had issues when I restored using the Migration Assistant because it messed up my EFI partition, but after a couple of trials, I managed to...
I used the nvda_drv=1 flag to get the card to work with the VGA connection, but not DVI. It can use either the native drivers or the NVIDIA drivers. However now the Ethernet stopped working.
I also need to figure out how to add the flag to the boot arg so I don't have go manually enter it...
I am also having issues with this card. I can not get the NVIDIA drivers to load. I have them installed, but when I reboot it always reverts to the Mac drivers. If I attach my dell u2311h monitor with DVI the resolution is set to 800x600. It can not be changed. When I attach the monitor...
I just want to clarify something, please excuse me if this is obvious. Does the repair permissions in Multbeast happen during the installation or does it happen on the restart?
I couldn't find anyone that is using the same mobo that I have, which is the GIGABYTE GA-Z68AP-D3. I had a problem waking from sleep that seems to have abated. I also had a problem with the sound card, but I had a USB sound card that is working fine, so I don't have to worry about that for...
I changed some of the settings in Multibeast and now the computer crashes on start up. I am fairly certain that my mistake was changing the setting for model identifier. I am looking for a way to create a bootable drive that will allow me to run Multibeast to revise the settings on the system...
