Native resolution definitely works. Not sure why you would think otherwise.
You might want to run https://github.com/xzhih/one-key-hidpi though as it enables more HiDPI resolutions. For example, text size is a bit too small at 1920x1080. For a FHD screen, the only practical HiDPI resolution...
I don't know of a way to verify if NVME PM is working, but I did make some overall batt/perf measurements for those curious.
Benchmarking the T480s is especially interesting because the EC somehow sets higher power & temp limits in Windows than in Linux...
I've added an "ACPI Patching" section at the end of my README.md to list out all changes. More patching details are the git repo's changelog itself. If you clone the repo and do a `git log --stat --reverse` it should give you a better view.
As is typical, most patching is done to the DSDT and...
It's optional to replace the wifi/BT card. Using an external dongle is perfectly fine.
Regarding scrolling, I found a tool called Smart Scroll (http://www.marcmoini.com/sx_en.html) that can emulate the mid-button scrolling with TrackPoint. Just enable "Vector Scroll" with "Drag Button 3...
Thanks man this is awesome! I gave it a try and it worked great.
I've switched back to VoodooPS2 now because I needed TrackPoint in other OSes and the lack of scrolling is kind of mitigated by using the touchscreen and/or an external mouse. But your patched ELAN driver could be a great option...
Just finished my Hackintosh installation on a ThinkPad T480s. There seems to be few guides or reports for ThinkPad T480s/T480/X1C6, so I've compiled my notes and configuration files into a repo:
https://github.com/kk1987/T480s-hackintosh/
Most features (that I care about) are now working...
So the LP156WF6-SP-A1 panel arrived and it had no issue with sleep/wake. Confirming the issue is specific to this Samsung panel + Acer motherboard combination. Thanks everyone for the help!
I didn't experience such errors applying the GFX0 -> IGPU patch on your SSDT-7.
Make sure to use the correct version of iasl, and switches "-da -dl" when disassembling *.aml to *.dsl...
No, there is almost no difference.
chipset is the same HM86
4710HQ is basically the same chip as 4720HQ, just clocked 100MHz lower
860M (Maxwell version) is the same chip (GM107) as 960M
And... I checked your ACPI dump files and they look identical to what I had with the VN7-591G.
I did...
Well... fingers crossed as I wait for my LP156WF6-SP-A1 to arrive...
I also tried a LP156WF4-SP-L1 taken from a Chromebook (it's got terribly pale colors BTW), and it wakes normally too, so hopefully my issue is specific to the Samsung panel...
FYI.
I hackintoshed a VN7-591G which I suppose has a very similar hardware configuration. (4710HQ, 860M, ALC283, Synaptics USB touchpad...) I can confirm that the touchpad can only work in emulated mouse mode.
Regarding sleep/wake, initially (before DSDT/SSDT patching, that is) I had the same...
I've had similar issue on a Acer E5-575-51GG laptop too, and solved using the same method. The codec is also ALC255.
I'll write down the detailed steps below, in case someone got to this thread via Google search too:
Run AppleHDA Patcher & follow instructions. I used Clover with aDummyHDA.kext...
