I guess...? I just Run the patch updater from dosdude1, and it’s this which puts the AppleHDA in that patched state.
however, even after deleting all applealc and Lilu, I have no internal sound card anymore.
seems I’ve also lost that for good.

Got no audio at all now though, lol :D! Not even HDMI
The Boot arg: "kext-dev-mode=1" was added in NVRam
The Boot arg: "rootless=0" was added in NVRam
but i think the above was missing, which kext utility just added.

could be?! Would have been interesting to run that terminal command right after the dosdude1 installation to see if it came up with the wrong stuff then already.

other than dosdude1 not sure what else have done it. It’s a clean install of Sierra, upgraded to Catalina via dosdude1

Btw, if I have just AppleALC.kext injected without Lilu, the HDMI output did not work either, and left the system without any soundcard available whatsoever. Both kexts have to be installed.

It seems AppleALC.kext DOES need Lilu.kext alongside it to make HDMI work. But not WhateverGreen.kext. Injecting WhateverGreen.kext alongside the other two does nothing.

SIP disabled, and HDMIAudio.kext not notarised, hence trying to use AppleALC.kext (which i guess is notarised?)
Also using Terminal commands:
sudo spctl --master-disable
sudo mount -rw /
sudo killall Finder
..before being able to copy/delete kexts in either L/E or S/L/E, then using...
