I'd imagine that you can use a Intel GMA X3100 on Lion, and probably even Mountain Lion. The problem is that Apple dropped support for OpenGL 2.0 in Mavericks. The intel GMA X3100 was used in Macs, but the max it could run is OpenGL 2.0. I am typing this on a White Plastic Late 2008 Macbook...

Did you figure out a solution to this problem? I am having the same issue on a working Hackintosh since the update to 10.8.2. Now, I just updated to 10.8.3 and cannot get sound back. The installation also failed at the end of the update, but system info says OS 10.8.3. Any ideas?
