The Dell OptiMac Big Sur/OpenCore Thread - For 7020/9020 Optiplex Desktops

I'm thinking of adding a Dell Optiplex 9020 to my office, however, I have doubts about the performance compared to a Mac mini from 2014 as both have the same CPU generation (in case of my mini an i5, 4 gb RAM). The mini begins to feel sluggish in everyday office work with slow reaction times and...

    Quietest laptop?

Hi all, I have a question for all Hackintosh laptop owners who use their device as a daily driver: what do you think is the quietest laptop? I am using a Dell XPS 9560 which is working perfectly, however, the fans can be annoying even after some tweaking and undervolting. When plugged into...

[Guide] Dell XPS 9560 Big Sur OpenCore

I just went for the first one that appeared in an eBay search. Wifi strength is much better now but still significantly reduced compared to my old MacBook Pro. (with DW1560)

[Guide] Dell XPS 9560 Big Sur OpenCore

I performed the exact steps as quoted in my post above and have the feeling that it works! Fans are mostly turned off. However, with the power cable plugged in, fans still idle at around 2500 rpm.

[Guide] Dell XPS 9560 Big Sur OpenCore

Good to know. Are you referring to the following lines: # Set Core Voltage Offset Prefix to Negative setup_var 0x664 0x1 # Set Core Voltage Offset to -120 mV setup_var 0x662 0x78 # Set Uncore Voltage Offset Prefix to Negative setup_var 0x865 0x1 # Set Uncore Voltage Offset to -100 mV setup_var...

[Guide] Dell XPS 9560 Big Sur OpenCore

Sorry for the late response. To be honest, I haven't had the time to tinker around, so for now I am rocking the 4-connector-approach (power, HDMI, USB-C to DP and USB 3.0 to USB hub). For what it's worth, it saves me the hassle of having to reboot if USB C hot plugging is not working... it works...

[Guide] Dell XPS 9560 Big Sur OpenCore

I tried both, connecting at boot-up and while running, USB ports won't work either way. I will try your SSDT and the 14,3 system definition and report back. On a side note, two displays connected to the TB16 dock will only work if one of them is connected via a USB-C adapter through the dock...

[Guide] Dell XPS 9560 Big Sur OpenCore

Thank you very much for the hard work. I also use Big Sur (11.2.1) on the XPS 9560 as a daily driver and am very happy with it. On v0.5/OC 0.6.7 everything seems to work. Since a few days, I have the TB 16 dock on hand with two displays connected (Apple Cinema Display and a generic 1920x1200...

XPS 15 9560 MacOS Catalina 15.1 Full Install Guide

I bought a Dell XPS 9560 explicitely to install Mac OS on and after following this guide, everything works so far. Thank you! For Wifi, I got the DW1560 from eBay and have problems installing it: The antenna connectors don't seem to fit. Even with force, I cannot get them to attach to the...

Dell XPS 9560 recommended as a daily driver?

Hi guys, I'm planning to upgrade my Macbook Pro Mid 2014. Since I don't agree with Apple's latests price politics, I am looking into the hackintosh world for a new notebook. I'm fairly familiar with hackintoshes, I built my first one in 2012 and later switched to a HP Elite 8300 that is running...

    After multibeast system VERY slow

Hey all, at first, thanks for all that great stuff provided by this wonderful community! Until now you helped me a lot but I can't find a solution for my actual problem. MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600MHz No graphics card Lion...

    HD3000 Stuck on 1024x768

Following the tip to boot with GraphicsEnabler=Yes, Lion's login screen appears in 1920*1080! But now it reacts so slow that it's quite not possible to enter my password (or even a single character). In addition, no button (Turn off, reboot,...) can be clicked with the mouse. Can anyone help...
