nope. i didn't do a fresh install. just don't wipe your hard drive. it tells you that in the install instructions on here, you only follow step 6 a-h if you want to do a fresh install. if you don't want a fresh install but just update your OS, don't do step 6.
after an update you'll need to install your audio again. just selecting the audio driver didn't work for me.
i had to select:
UEFI Boot Mode (in the quick start tab)
The audio driver for my motherboard (under the driver tab)
then click build and reboot your computer
Amazing! What I had tried last yesterday until 3.15am has now just taken me 35 minutes. I didn't do a clean install. Just made the bootable USB and installed to my SSD (after backing everything up with CCC). I then downloaded the web drivers, and everything is perfect again.
I got sick of trying so thought I'd try using Clover to install from a USB. But it nearly finishes the install, and then the spinning ball shows. So annoying!
I've mounted the EFI and updated clover but when the sierra install reboots there is no option to install it from the clover menu. what am i doing wrong??
would this way just update el capitan or would it format my SSD and id also have to link to my data hard drive again?
i made the mistake of updating el capitan and now the nvidia drivers don't work and the graphics are pretty slow. tried to fix it but i think it'll be easier to just update to...
i tried before, but seeing as i deleted the drivers there is no plist file anymore, therefore there is nothing to edit.
the attached screenshot is what terminal looks like when i copy and paste the command provided.
