Thanks for this information. I followed your steps to the T, but I am only able to boot from my hard drive via safe mode (-x). Without this command, I see the Apple logo hanging with an empty gray bar underneath. I attached a pic of what I see when I type - v. Thanks for your help. After...

Upgrading from Mountain Lion to Yosemite, what do I need to know?

Hey all! Haven't been on here for quite some time... But I just booted into my OSX side for the first time in months. I am totally behind on updates. lol I am currently running 10.8.3 on ML. I have all my kexts and other programs working very well (except sleep, but that's not a biggie). I...

    Front headphone jack hiccups

Hey all! Been a while since I've been on the forums. School and windows 8 getting the best of me. Anyways, I wanted to bring up an issue I've had with my Hackintosh experience ever since I had Lion running on here. Currently, I have a 5.1 surround sound that kicks butt in OS X Mountain...

Have you tried enabling "No Execute Memory Protect" in your Advanced BIOS settings?

Video card idle temp at 58 degrees C. Is this normal?

I just installed HWMonitor and checked my temps. CPU looks fine at idle temps between 39 and 44 degrees C. The GPU is staying at 58 C. Is this normal, or should I increase my fan speed a bit? I recall it being in the mid 40s when I first built my computer a year ago. My computer was cleaned...

Can't view temps of computer components in iStatPro; fakeSMC.kext already installed

I installed ML a few months ago, and got basically everything working fine. Problem is, with iStatPro, I can only see my hard drive temps. Was wondering how I could see temps for my other components. I read that fakeSMC.kext needs to be installed, but it's already there in Extra/Extensions. All...

Woah, my fancy forums signature disappeared! :O

Hey all. I had spent some time kinda fooling around with my signature, listing all my computer specs and what was/wasn't working, with all sorts of colors and fonts. Now, it totally disappeared after I logged back in today (I haven't logged on in over a week and a half). I now see it with the...

    x58a-ud5 Rev. 2 no sleep

If MiniITX's method doesn't work for you, try my idea: 1. Install the AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset from Multibeast. 2. Go here and download this Sleep Enabler kext. http://www.osx86.net/view/2972-sleepenabler_universal.html 3. Put it on the desktop and run Kext Wizard. Install the...

    Couldn't get to Installation Screen

It might... but since you have a Gigabyte Motherboard, it should be under Advanced BIOS settings. You might have to dig through the settings.

    Issues with install

Have you tried tweaking with the System Power Options in your BIOS? (pic #5 you posted). Some things you could try to enable (in different combos): Wake System from S5 PCIeASPM Support Flash Update Sleep Delay I'm not sure what these settings do, but you can try them!

    PC restarting

Found your issue! Enable "No Execute Memory Protection". (Bottom setting on your 3rd picture). I had the same issue back in July. No need to remove graphics card. Just boot with "Graphics Enabler = No". Worked like a charm!!!

    Big Big Question

My setup has 2 hard drives. One with Win 7, the other OS X. Chimera doesn't allow me to boot into Windows. Instead, I manually enter the bios and switch boot priorities of each hard drive. So to answer your question, OS X/Chimera/anything OS X related doesn't remove the MBR. You just have to...
