Huh? I didn't know that existed. I'm was looking to add Thunderbolt so I could use the LG Ultrafine 5K and a TB3 hard drive.

MSI has zero support information regarding Thunderbolt on the Z170. While there is a TB3 port on the motherboard (?), only a few people have actually gotten it to work with an Asus TB add in card.

Question for anyone who has an LG + Alpine or Titan ridge: do you see a performance decrease since you're running out of the GPU? Say, if you have a USB-C hard drive connected. Still on the fence about adding this to my build; maybe it's not worth it.

Well, I made the dumb mistake of buying a Z370 Aorus Gaming 3 which is only compatible with series 800 CPUs. So I either have to buy a z100 series board + Alpine Ridge, or buy a 8700k which is silly given I have a 6700 working just fine. Or.... just abandon thunderbolt and the Ultrafine 5K...

Good to know. Maybe I'll try it. But it may just be easier to get an AMD.

So, it's working or not working? Trying to decide if I should attempt with my 980ti. seems really cumbersome.

Are you working with 4k content? And your export times seem similar?

Alright, I ordered an Ultrafine 5K today. I also ordered a Titan Ridge and Gigabyte motherboard to replace my MSI one. I want to give your patch a shot on 10.13.6 with my 980ti before I dump to AMD. Is this patch still working for anyone running Nvidia?

I wouldn't suggest an MSI motherboard if possible. It's not worth saving a couple of bucks. I went with an MSI and regret it, wish I got a Gigabyte.
