a little birdy told me, first hand, that apple has had skylake chips ready to ship in macbooks for 2 weeks now. so, i expect el cap to be running on skylake on consumer's machines in oct/nov. if not sept already. but that's management's call.

anyway, the sg08 with my configuration (cpu fan + case fan) emits some well noticeable air flow. around 30-35 decibel, i guess.
very rarely the bundled case fan makes some ugly grinding noise. i then leave it running, remove the top case and dust filter and halt...
i don't exactly love my hackmac but i can't say that about you guys :thumbup:
after playing with a plethora of chameleon versions and fooling around with chameleon wizard this method actually worked on a fresh 10.9 install. it didn't even require an apple id password reset.

i'm on chimera 2.2.1.
i had it working with chameleon (2.1 r2266, i think) on mountain lion.
now, after a clean install of mavericks, i can't get chameleon (any revision, even the newest r2377) to boot.

if you don't experience problems with your video/image editing tools you probably shouldn't think about it.
the point is, geekbench uses its own algorithms to test hardware. it does so just to create comparable numbers without much regard...

sorry, i don't have and won't get geekbench. it is a synthetic benchmark and therefore useless with regard to real world problems.
however, i am playing games on the hacmac (i mean real 3d games) and i did not notice any difference between...
