I found a solution that worked.
I had Lilu.kext v1.20 installed in my EFI partition, it needed to be updated to v1.21 or better in order to run 10.13.2+.
Installing that kext allowed me to finish the update to version 10.13.3

I have a question for this thread, will the NVIDIA card for this build create artifacts when rendering video like mine does? I use Screenflow and when I render I have to send it to my MacBook Pro because on my Hack the video turns out green every time. I read somewhere on here that the problem...
Do you use Screenflow? Can you correctly render video with it? I can render video in every program from Quicktime Player to iMovie to AnyVideo Converter HD to Camtasia. But Screenflow fails on me and I like it the most!
I've had this particular Hackintosh running for a couple...
Probably too late for this reply but here's what worked for me. From this location: http://dae.me/blog/1660/concisest-guide-to-setting-up-time-machine-server-on-ubuntu-server-12-04/
If you use Mavericks/Yosemite and you get “Check the server name or IP address, and then try again” error, run...
Thanks RehabMan, I read through the entire guide and took it all one step at a time. Ultimately I found the following part from the guide to work for my setup.Specific Recommendations (7-series, 8-series, 9-series, X99)
Do the EHCx->EH0x rename. It is a no-brainer first step.
The Rename didn't...
USB 3.0 works on my front USB ports on my case only. Can't get the back side to work for connecting USB Hard Drives.
I can connect USB flash drives and they work fine on the back ports, but powered USB hard drives do not work at all on the back. They won't mount, or run in USB 2.0 speed or...
I had the same issue, then I just finally decided to try the USB that was created. I yanked it out of my other Mac, then just tried the boot up and it worked fine.
I'm typing this from my new install now.
Yes that's an option, but we used to be able to format USB drives in disk utility. It's not a CustoMac issue, this is on my MacBook Pro Retina. I used that feature all the time with my business.
I guess I need to find a 3rd party solution of some kind.
Sorry, that does not work either. I have several disks I've used for various Linux installs and none of them can be erased or partitioned with El Capitan Disk Utility or the diskutil command line tool.
I had to put the USB drive in my other machine that still runs Yosemite to partition/erase...
I've done the install on multiple CustoMacs around my office just to learn more about the process. Everything has worked fine in the past.
I'm trying to create the USB drive on my MacBook Pro with El Capitan. The Disk Utility in El Capitan doesn't play well at all. I can't write to or...
