I'm trying to find a thorough guide to use for myself when I do my install. I am running a Gigabyte ga-z170x gaming 5. How different would it be from using this guide?

It seems that there has been great progress so far with the z170x gaming 5 motherboard. I need to order a dedicated ssd and then I will be making my own attempt at getting a hackintosh working with my rig. I am very much still keeping my eye out for this.

Grr now I think I have to eat my own words. Apparently this guy was able to get it working.

After doing a lot of research, I am just saying this for future people that were in my predicament. It appears that the audio device (creative sound core) in charge of audio for the z170x gaming 7 doesn't work with osx. So it would appear that the gaming 5 or ud5 th might...
Skylake Starter Guide
I am sorry if it sounds like I am beating a dead horse here or if there is a reason no one has responded but is there any reason why the gaming 7 motherboard wouldnt work instead of the ud5 th? They both seem to have the same controller for the thunderbolt port so when...

I am in the same exact boat. I have every other component necessary for my build except ram, mobo, and cpu. I am waiting for them to drop in price a little bit. 6600k seems crazy at $275 for me and the ud5th seems to have gone up in price some.
The main advantages of skylake seem to be what is new with the z170 boards. DDR4 Ram and Thunderbolt 3 seem to be the main reasons why I am going with skylake. The processors themselves seem to be negligible at best when compared to each other.

That settles it I am buying the z170x ud5 th the next time I see a decent deal on it.
By the way, we can't pm people until we have 75 posts.

So if I am understanding correctly, skylake does physically function in its current for to work, it is just not working very well and will eventually get better. Even if thunderbolt 3 doesn't work for the next year or two, I am fine with that. I just didn't want to invest...
Skylake Starter Guide
How likely does it look that eventually skylake will have the same support that boradwell/haswell have? If I were to buy parts now and take advantage of sales would I be foolish to invest in skylake stuff and for the time being just use windows until it works or does it...
Sorry to change topics slightly here but tonymacx86, any particular reason you chose the z170x ud5 th over the gaming 7? They both seem to be at the same price point more or less but the gaming 7 has one more m2 slot at the expense of 1 fewer thunderbolt port. I am looking to do a dual boot with...
