Actually I didn't really lose any money because I can actually continue using the GTX 770 in my Macintosh Server.
FINALLY.
Sold my GTX 1080 (gave up hope) - bought a RX 480 - not satisfied with Internal Graphics "boot solution" - returned RX 480- bought a GTX 770 (satisfied, but no good for gaming with my 4k LG Monitor, now putting it in my Server machine).
FINALLY. Bought 1070 from KFA2.

Aside the fact that I've always loved G5 mods (have done one on my own couple years ago) - this has to be by far the cleanest and most aesthetic mod I've seen by now.

Hi René! No, I have actually sold my GA-Z170X-UD3 and went straight with the Asus Z170-A. I always thought that Gigabyte Mobos where the superior ones but boy did I change my opinion on that :)

I've tried using the latest CodecCommander.kext from RehabMan, the Multibeast Method (realtekALC),... even reloading AppleHDA - nothing works.
What DOES work however is when setting Audio ID -> 2 (3-port config) instead of 1! Sound works after sleep but then there's only sound coming...
I can confirm that audio indeed does NO LONGER work after waking from sleep!
Using the latest clover and CodecCommander in /S/L/E.....
Might take a look into this next week - apart from that everything is working fine!

Anyone who's got a Ga-z170x-UD3 follow this excellent guide (I'm using the almost exact same config.plist)...
Just wanted to point out that the Samsung 950 PRO M.2 NVME SSD (256 GB Version) is working perfectly with my skylake i7 configuration (see signature!).
Here's what I did:
Placed nvme-driver1.kext into my os x install drive under clover/kexts/other (equals /kexts/10.11)
booted to 10.11.4...
