I'm late to the show but I'm pretty sure he means his computer is freezing at that error message so he can't do anything. I have the same error after updating High Sierra now I can't even get past "No ER State object for volume High Sierra" for all my drives. Can't hit any keys to continue.

I have the same problem but the folder is protected so I can't delete it. Sudo doesn't work even after I disable csrutil (I don't think it's actually disabling because when I type "csrutil status" it says "System Integrity: Protection Status enabled."

I successfully mounted the EFI but all I have inside its folder are APPLE, BOOT and CLOVER folders and an install log. I don't see any MICROSOFT folder?
