So why can't x79 users use this AppleHDA and are forced to use the Interim Realtek Ivy Bridge Lion AppleHDA.kext? I just put together a new x79 system and was amazed to find out that I could not use the latest AppleHDA.kext. Could you please state why?

Target did the same thing last year with a Acer Netbook clearly running Snow Leopard and even showing the default Snow Leopard background.

As RevoGirl's SSDT script goes I found this guide that still uses her script and explains how to use it. Works great for me but I don't know about the x79... You can find the guide here

When I say IOreg show nothing playing through the outputs I have noticed when using HDMI it shows up that it is working. I will try 0 trough F and see what happens... Since you said 4 is not defined by OS X how can I/we define it?

Once I installed Xcode I was able to change the value. I tried a few values but still no sound. Would you recommend starting at 21471d00 and going up to 21471d99 until sound comes out? Also IOreg show nothing playing through the outputs.
