I haven't done it on my main SSD yet as I want to ensure that everything is stable and working correctly first, which I have almost reached, just the USB 3.0 ports being a bit finnicky (3 out of 5 USB 3.0 ports not working (1 front panel, 2 back panel)) and sleep wakeup killing the system...
For anyone who happens to stumble across this through searching as I did:
Mine too went through it all, gave the error but continued fine, however, since I had to redo this because UEFI is very unstable on my system, I spent some time figuring out why this takes forever.
Looking at the log...
"The longest 16 minutes remaining" Haha, I love it!
Going through the same thing here myself right now, not sure if I want to interrupt it and try APFS partition to see if it's any faster, or whether I should just let it continue :D
Thanks for the info! :)
i simply use disk utility...
works completely fine for me (tested it)
disk utility->highlight disk->file new image from disk...
restoring can be done from within the mountain lion installer, opening up disk utility and restoring from the image

Hmmm, that seemed to do no good, it now either goes through the whole booting section and then simply reboots, hangs at FIPS Post success!, hangs at waiting for DSMOS or hangs just after wlan_vap_create
cpus=1 still allows it to boot fine
any other tips?
and read that the intel...
[SOLVED] OSX 10.8.4 can only boot using "cpus=1"
Hi there, pretty close to completing my hackintosh build, after a lot of reading and fiddling with everything, but finally got Mountain Lion stable up and running
The only problem i'm still having, is that my system is only running on 1 core...
i think NTFS 3G should do the trick; http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-for-mac/
along side with macfuse; http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/
combined they allow you to read and write to NTFS formatted drives (aka windows drives), it works on my MBP (though with one of the bootcamp...
yeah i read that, though a few people got them to work in lion if i'm not mistaken (in the GTX680 works for OSX thread), so maybe i'm among the lucky ones :p
