Yes external HD won't work on GA-Z270P-D3's USB 3 ports since they are all USB 3.1 ports that macOS doesn't support just yet for external HD.

layout 99's "line out" works too, but its input device doesn't work. In conclusion no layout work for input devices, layout 50 or 99 work for output.
