Let me start by saying that I’m new to this Hackintosh affair. But thanks to the awesome posts (especially devs!) on this forum and after a mini-struggle, I finally managed to get this box off the ground. Thanks for the great work!

What’s know to be working:
- Ethernet
- Full QE/CI
- Audio with controls
- USB (recognizes USB 3 high speed hub but haven’t tested any devices yet)
- HW monitoring, after installing HWMonitor
– Sleep / wake

Known issues:
- Occasional freeze, haven't been able to reproduce.

Suggestions, corrections, tips, questions all welcome.

Guides I perused:

Board: GA-Z97M-D3H
CPU: Intel 4790k
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4600 (NO EXTERNAL CARD!)
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 16 GB
HD: Samsung SSD, Seagate HDD
Case: Fractal design 1000
DVI monitor — this needed to be connected. I had **** loads of trouble attempting to install with a VGA monitor and still cannot get QE/CI going on one :banghead:. Would love for someone to explain / comment on this (I know VGA hasn’t been natively supported on OS X, but what does this mean exactly?).
USB Keyboard / Mouse
Gigabyte BIOS Version: F3 (Didn’t have to upgrade)

Pre install:
Disabled turbo off in the bios.
[M.I.T >> Advanced Frequency Settings >> Advanced CPU Core Features >> Intel Turbo Boost Technology >> Disabled]
Set Initial Display Output to IGFX
Set Memory profile: XMP Profile 1

Installation: Followed the stock guide.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

To get into the installer, had to boot with:
-v -x PCIRootUID=1 IGPEnabler=Yes GraphicsEnabler=No

Post installation: Multibeast
To boot into the OS, had to use the flash drive boot loader. Again had to use the boot options:
-x PCIRootUID=1

Finished the install. Partitioned the HDD and backed up OS partition using time machine. Backed up each time system change was made.
[This saved me loads of time and frustration. Had to restore multiple times.]

Used Multibeast with the following options checked:

QuickStart >> DSDT Free
Drivers >> Audio >> Realtek ALCxxx >> ALC892
Drivers >> Audio >> Realtek ALCxxx >> Intel 9 Series Motherboard Support *
Drivers >> Disk >> 3rd Party SATA
Drivers >> Disk >> 10.9.4 TRIM patch
Drivers >> Network >> Realtek >> RealtekRTL8111 v1.2.0
Bootloader >> Chimera v3.0.1
Customize >> Boot Options >> Basic Boot Options
Customize >> Boot Options >> Generate CPU States
Customize >> Boot Options >> Hibernate Mode - Desktop
Customize >> Boot Options >> Use KernelCache
Customize >> Boot Options >> Verbose Boot [not necessary, but essential for troubleshooting]
Customize >> System Definitions >> iMac >> iMac 14,2 **
Customize >> Themes >> tonymacx86 Black

* I might have tried multibeast without 9 support and even QE/CI didn't work then.
** This was important (I think?). Mac Pro 3,1 did not work. Also, setting it up based on EasyBeast [sysdef: Mac Pro 3,1] didn’t work either. However, at that point I was still on the VGA monitor and not sure if that played a part.

Then I followed post #1 on Quick Fix for Intel HD 4600 Graphics Acceleration on 9 Series Motherboards:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...phics-acceleration-9-series-motherboards.html

After all this, restarting brought me to that beautiful grey login screen. WOOT.

Next I installed HWSensors 6.11.1328. Copied app to applications, kexts to Desktop, then KextBeast. Restart.

Hi Foxlet,

First let me express my sincere gratitude for creating such a simple and straightforward guide.

Have you tried to upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite? I know for sure that Sound and Intel HD Graphics 4600 are still incompatible (I just came from Yosemite to confirm it), but perhaps upgrading the existing OS will migrate the ktexts needed to make it work.

Your thoughts?

Hello,

I have installed 10.10.3 on my motherboard GA-Z97M-D3H bios F7 version. But there is no sound after follow the multibeast instructions. I cannot find the following option in multibeast:

Drivers >> Audio >> Realtek ALCxxx >> Intel 9 Series Motherboard Support *

How can I fix it?

Please help.

Harry

There is no longer a need for the "Intel 9 Series Motherboard Support" in the current MultiBeast for Yosemite. Try rerunning MultiBeast for Yosemite, just reloading the audio driver. Reboot and repair permissions.

got it!

I have the sound output now. Thanks a lot.

Why some use "AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset" and not "ElliottForceLegacyRTC" in your MultiBeast setup ??
"AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset" prevent CMOS resets under Mavericks. no says nothing about Yosemite
