Thought I'd get a post together here in the graphics section to collect 7xxx testing in the new 10.8.3. Here are some hints/tricks- I'll be publishing an article sometime next week.

I have the MSI Radeon HD 7870, booting via UniBeast MBR formatted disk- GraphicsEnabler=No. You then have to sleep the rig via Power Button, and when it wakes, joy. Not exactly ideal- but here are my test results. Fully working OpenCL/OpenGL and connectors in 10.8.3.

How to Boot from Hard Drive with AMD Radeon HD 7xxx:
When using a board with integrated graphics, set that to Primary display with the card in. It should work in tandem with the IGPU to boot successfully. On Gigabyte boards, set these 2 settings for dual graphics. You can set GraphicsEnabler=Yes, use default GUID partition format, and everything will work.

Init Display First: IGFX
Internal Graphics: Disabled (OS X will recognize fully)

UPDATE 2:
Clover Bootloader also works with IGPU set to Primary.

Radeon HD 7870 on 10.8.3

Hello everybody, thanks to many resources available through this forum I have been able to get a hackintosh up and running with an asus p8z77-v lk motherboard using the integrated HD4000 in my IB i5-3570k. I have a 7870 which I use for games and everything in windows and was looking forward to the drivers coming out in 10.8.3 but unfortunately I ran into a snag. I did read the notes on the combo update posted here stating that full acceleration was enabled when using the GraphicsEnabler=No and that Chimera was not functioning after the update. So using the usb w/unibeast and flags GraphicsEnabler=No my system boots with 10.8.3 but where there is normally the brushed metal start screen is all white with just the cursor visible. I have tried logging in (interesting to try and find the password box w/just the mouse and memory) and the screen still remains all white with just the cursor visible. Curious as to if anyone has any ideas? Also it is connected to my monitor using the card's sole DVI port.

Hello !

I just installed the update 10.8.3, audio fine, but when I stick in my sapphire vapor x 7970 I can´t boot with monitor connected to the gpu nore to the cpu-gpu, I get a black screen with
boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: many weird letters

can´t reach chimera boot screen

As tonymac posted above that even with the proper device id it's still not perfect.

Read the Original Post- you must boot from MBR formatted drive. UniBeast USB is the best and easiest way.

Edited- new info available.

Hi,

on my system (msi z77a-g43 + i5 2500k (HD3000)) sleep is not working and I don't know why nor how to fix it (maybe it's related to having sandy cpu with an ivy motherboard? Didn't find anyone with this config...), tried all I could find with no luck. I have a 7750 with no use right now, so if I upgrade from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3 and need to do the sleep trick... it will not work, I assume?

Your MSI board will need a patched BIOS or CPU Power Management kext in order to sleep. Gigabyte boards don't have that issue. First get sleep working- then test the 7750.

Yes, I do have a patched BIOS installed, and it's still not working... I'll open another thread, see if I somebody has any idea

With GraphicsEnabler=No I can boot into OSX Installation but the wheel keeps spinning on my 10.8.3 SSd.....
