Hi to all of you,
I've created this thread because i've been reading so much stuff here and there, and haven't been able to get a definitive answer for my question:
Is, has of now (January 2015), possible to make an Hackintosh with:

I7 5960 X
Asus X99 Deluxe
GTX 980

If so, can anyone please in the goodness of their heart provide a little tutorial of all you did to get your's to work?

Thanks in advance for the attention
Greetings from Portugal!

I'm currently running this setup. I've got an Asus X99 Deluxe, 5960X overclocked to 4.0GHz, and dual SLI'd GTX 980 Superclocked, running both Yosemite and Windows 8.1 in 4K. Everything is working except for iMessages, which I think I screwed up originally and now have a long way back around to fix it. I recommend NOT touching iMessages etc until you know exactly what you need to do.

I believe the temporary guide and the 5960x thread have all of the information you need in order to get it working, just takes a bit of reading. I definitely can tell you I remember using a patched kernel, and a pack of kexts, as well as a few individual patches.

The main thing I would say is it's definitely not an instant / easy setup, but I'm a total hackintosh newbie with some OK computer skills and I got it all to work.

Good luck!

There is a great deal of information regarding your hardware available - its best to read through it all to give you a better understanding on the process that you are undertaking. The GTX 980 does not have native OS X support so you need to install OS X before you can add the proper driver support. The following threads are going to help a great deal - there is no short cut to doing this properly. This stuff is more advanced than self assembly furniture.

I have almost the same configuration as you:

Asus X99 Deluxe
5930k
GTX 980

Is running perfect on Clover but I still don't have: sound, bluetooth, ethernet and DP doesn't work with my 4k Monitor. Are you using clover? If so, can you give me some advice or sent me your clover settings?

Thanks in advance!

Is your overclock being recognized in Mac Os, too ? If so, how stable do you find it to be at 4 Ghz, what temps are you hitting, and, also, what was your method of ssding? Is some kind of speedstepping working? Are you running Yosemite or Mavericks?
Sorry for so many questions, but I intend to make a similar build and still have a hard time choosing between an Asus or Ga mobo in order to have a 5960x running stable for audio and video editing at 4 GHz.
Also, what is your exact model of GPU / or the gpu that you'd recommend for video editing?
Thank you for your time!

ASUS X99 Deluxe + i7 5960X + GTX 980 + 32 gigs Crucial DDR 400 + PNY HDD 250g from Best buy.

I have this EXACT setup. I cannot get it to work. Can someone PLEASE post exact instructions complete with Bios settings even what SATA port my drive needs to be on.

"All the info is somewhere in these 3 links" does not work. "I have ALMOST your setup" does not work.

I have spent weeks (literally about 40 -50 hours) reading and trying to take a little from this thread and a little from that article. PLEASE can anyone post this exact setup?

I keep getting stuck at various points in -v mode pre-install. Yup CANT EVEN GET IT TO INSTALL.

At this point I have a $3500 PC and its killing me. I would love to get this thing turned into a hackintosh and get it plugged into my pipeline.

I don't want to guess, or fiddle, just follow instructions exactly.

I use these machines for work. (www.lightfacemedia.net) I am good for the money. I need this machine to have OSX so I can make more $$$ off it! Please someone help.

@jaraheel 's post seems to have worked for me. My problem was that I did not properly Google search "Step 6".

After searching "
manual installation of kexts via terminal", I came across this link: http://osxdaily.com/2012/01/12/how-to-manually-install-kernel-extensions-in-mac-os-x/, and I only used steps 1-4. That was it, the build immediately moved past the horrid [PCI Configuration Begin] and into the installation!

With a bit of work tonight, it should be fully up.
